I think maybe my mac on my clie is the wrong one and maybe that is why I can't surf the web, I can now hot sync and it says it connects but only if I give my clie an IP address. Just last night I could have everything set for Auto it it all worked great, for some reason today it will not surf the web and won't even connect to network without an IP. Any ideas?

Thanks :)

As far as I know, and I'm not a networking expert, your MAC address is hardcoded onto your network interface card and can't be changed. Every network interface device in the world has its' own unique address, if they allowed you to change this then it would cause conflicts.

As for a resolution to your problem, I'm still having issues with my WiFi & networking so I can't help actually help.

Using two NX70 Clies on my WLAN, the only way I could get them to reliably connect is to use manual (static) settings IP & DNS. So I would say it's normal due to the primative nature of the WL100 driver, NOT the card. The card will work great in a laptop PC.

It is possible (on PC's anyway) to spoof the address... though I know not how.

Can you DHCP server generate logs?
Did your DHCP server receive any requests
to start with??

I don't think changing MAC address will solve your problem.

I got tired of all the problems , so I replaced my netgear router with the linksys wrt54g and everything is working perfect. I guess the drivers must have a conflict with the netgear.

Thanks for everyones help!

A cardboard box.
