i stumbled across it while i was searching google for some active directory search tool information... but i can't find any other information about it...?

So the question is, does anyone know of a palm platform tool that will allow to manage windows, or windows server, administrative tools.... without running the windows machine remotely (palmvnc).

Wow! This looks interesting!

I'm guessing that RDP is out of the question as well (along with VNC)

I know of staradmin (http://www.starremote.com/staradmin.htm) although I've never used it. I does require you to install it on the host computer though.

mobileTS (http://www.ddhsoftware.com/mobile_ts.html) is pretty cool as it uses the built-in Windows RDP.

I vaguely remember using a trial of Star Admin once and to my knowledge it did not require any additional installs barring IIS (which is included with the Server OS anyway). Have a look at the bottom of the page you linked to above for more info...

StarAdmin requires a one-time, easy installation of off-the-shelf software on a Windows 2000 Professional, Server or Advanced Server with Internet Information Services. All authorized users with Web enabled phones, wireless PDAs or two-way pagers can immediately begin using StarAdmin – there is no client-side software to purchase, install or support.

I think this means that you install their managing app on the windows computer but you don't need to install a client app on any other device to access it (as it works through a web browser).

Q: Does StarAdmin require agents on the managed machines?
A: No. StarAdmin requires just a single installation on one Windows 2000/XP- based computer. From there, it can fully access and manage any connected system
This appears to agree with what you have just said!

A installation on one windows XP.

So you need to install it on one system and then it will remotely administer the others (through the standard windows apps I guess).

That looks disgustingly like Windows Mobile though...

looks look it's the same one.
still you need a management console pc to connect to, but you don't need to install anything on the servers.
