Hi,

I'm using OffFlush to try to get rid of some annoying soft resets on my Palm T|X. I'm not sure it's helping, but I think it is... :)

I have seen a problem though: I use ShadowPlan for task management, and when I leave my Palm with ShadowPlan open (happens often) and after 3-minutes it auto-offs... if OffFlush decides to kick in, it performs the flush, then turns off the Palm. The problem is when I turn it back on - ShadowPlan has lost the unsaved changes (this can be a real pain, I'm just not used to the "save" concept in Palm - normally it just saves when exiting), and a few seconds later the Palm soft-resets.

I'm guessing that if OffFlush would exit the ShadowPlan app before it flushes, everything would be ok, but I'm not sure if this is the correct solution to the problem.

I don't know if this is also causing problems in other apps...

one, normally palm apps are responsible for saving their changes, which they should be doing right after the change was made, due to the whole concept of a PDA - like you said, a PDA user is not used to "saving" :)
two, it looks like shadowplan is not aware of the NVFS device youŽre using (not locking itself and/or its data to memory, that is), because it shouldnŽt lose data just because the dbcache gets flushed.

therefore iŽd suppose you better mail the shadowplan ppl ...

I use OffFlush 2.0 which has a checkbox to flush only on power button off. This way it never flushes on a autooff.

Flushing on auto off is generally not a good idea, as software is still in an active state, and you might want to use your Palm sometime sooner than 30 seconds from the point at which it turned off.
