Make sure you clean your handheld's screen properly - and make sure it's dust free.

Peel of the top and start sticking it before you peel off the whole plastic protector. Dusts will stick on it quickly.

Err.. read the instructions on the package.

Just clean it with water if dust get in.

I have the sony version. Which, I understand, is the same as the brando.
Mine was covered with dust and fibers from the sweater that I was wearing (new sweater) almost as soon as I peeled it back.
That being said, make sure that you are in a relatively dust free environment and try to keep the sticky side down when you open it to minimize contact with anything floating in the air.
If you do get some dust on it try washing it with a mild soap (really..)
I know that it sounds a little wierd but I had to do it with mine and it came out just fine.
The soap makes it slippery enough to remove all of the dust and, once it is dry, the protector is just as adhesive as before you washed it.

I read so many bad things that I am having second thoughts. Should I installed the protector or not? Is it worth the try? Thanks.

I have cleaned my brando screen protector for many times and it's as good as new. just make sure when you peel it off slowly or your corners will leave permanet marks!

What i do is roll a peice of scotch tape around one of my fingers, sticky side out. If you put the Brando on and see any dust or lint under it, lift it up and touch the dust with the tape. The tape will win over the Brando and grab the dust. You may have to do this a few times, but it is worth it when you can't even tell you have a screen protector on.

It can get a bit obsessive though... I applied, peeled off, washed, reapplied, peeled off... about 6 or 7 times trying to get it completely dust & air bubble free. :D

I use the Brando screen protector. Went on much easier than the Sony or Fellowes one. It was such a good fit I forget it is even on there. Doesn't chanage the feel or the look if it is installed properly. The fellowes fuzzies everything up.

They're worth it considering you only have one screen and it cost you $600. If you use your clie alot in tablet mode then a $20 protector to prevent stylus scratching seems like a good idea to me.

Most protectors are a little matt in finish for anti-glare. No significant loss to screen quality or color and I use my to show off images and video all the time.

The good protectors have some thickness to them. I find the graffitti more accurate cause the stylus doesn't slip on the surface. The thickness doens't affect screen sensitivity. Also helps to protect if your the kinda person who likes to tap some screen buttons with your fingers.

Had one for over a month now on my nx70 and I got no regrets.

I don't use them, the one time that I did, my screen got scratched. They look ugly, interfere with screen taps, and make it harder to read. No protectors and my screens = perfect.

Dirt can get trapped and cause damage too, I'll never use them again!!!

BTW, it was a color HP PPC that got damaged.

My biggest beef is finger prints, yucky!

My stylus hasn't scratched my screen. I guess if one would use an ice pick or a nail, then maybe...

I got mine on with about 50 minutes of applying and peeling, washing it, and etc. I mistakenly used my blockbuster card to smooth it down but didn't look for jaggy edges first; the credit card was too stiff. The edges marred the protector surface a bit. But that's what the protector is there for! I got one new scratch on the protector in the month it's been on.
Now, can anyone give some advice as to how to get it off?!! I'd like to clean it sometime and check for scratches underneath.
BTW, this is the sony branded one.

I have heard so many bad experiences with the Sony that I decided to order the Brando. I remembered using screen protector in my Palm III with a few bubbles. If I recalled right, was a Fellowed. Anyway with my Handera I tried to applied the same screen protector without success and end up with many scratches on the screen.

Well I am glad to announce that I just received my Brando screen protector. It has been the easier, quicker and perfectly screen protector installation just taking me a barely 15 second to install the protector without any bubble. I just applied using my finger little by little. I could not believe how easy it was. The stylus response is still the same. No loss in resolution or brightness. It is just perfect. Even my wife does not tell that there is a screen protector installed.

From 1 to 10, I will give the Brando Screen Protector a 100. Thanks Brando :)

Yea, people area always blown away when I tell them that there is a screen protector on my NX. I love being able to use my fingers and not worry about it. Today my NX got passed around class (it happens in every class, someone catches me reading an e-book and everyone wants to see it) and a girl started using a ballpoint pen on it. I knew I didn't have to freak out because ink comes right off of the Brando. My Brandos have to be one of my best purchases for my PalmOS units. I even drew the MessagEase layout on a Brando with a blue sharpie marker. When I had to uninstall MessagEase, the sharpie came off with Windex.

Just got the sony brand screen protector and applied it in two tries. A little frustrating with the dust and bubbles bit, but not too difficult. I am also wondering how in the world to take this thing off. It doesn't seem very easy to do without scratching the actual screen itself. Anyone have any methods on how to do this? BTW, I tried the scotch tape thing and it worked great. It also more or less worked for getting those water drops off the screen after having washed it.

How does the Brando (Which prior to this I have never heard of) differ from the InnoPocket?

The IP is washable, thus no need to change like the fellows, and offers a matte finish to reduce glare with no real affect on color or visibility.

Where can you get the Brando?

As to using a screen protector, while I haven't scratch the screen, I don't want to either.

There is a saying in motorcycle circles that sort of applies to running without a screen protector. There are two type of users, those who have scratched their screens, and those who haven't yet.

Hi everybody,

I have had a m505 and now I have a (brand new :D ) NX70. Both PDA displays have Brando screen protectors, probably the best accessory I have ever bought for my PDAs.

Here are a few tips for the installation of the Brando screenprotectors. They've worked fine for me and no-one can tell they're on, especially on the NX.

- First, take a long, hot shower or bath and make sure there's plenty of steam in the bathroom when you finish. This will make the dust particles heavier and they don't float around as much.

- Take your NX, the screen protector and a roll of scotch tape (the kind that peels off without leaving any traces) to the bathroom.

- Clean your NX display with a lint-free cloth, such as the ones used for cleaning eyeglasses.

- Peel off the protection of the Brando and cover the sticky side with scotch tape bands. I usually do that horizontally so they're easier to peel off.

- Peel off the first of the bands and place the protector on the display. You can then peel slowly, band by band, so that they adjust nicely. This also avoids any dust or lint from getting on the sticky surface of the protector.

That's it ! If you do it carefully and take your time, it will work just fine. You can be sure there will be no dust or scratches whatsoever.

If you need to take the protector off, use your nail to peel it off from a corner.

I will throw in my 2 cents. I was never successful with the "sticky" type of screen protectors. I have been using a "G2" from http://www.PDAScreenProtectors.com/ which is a piece of plastic that slips under the edges of the NX70 frame. It is held in place by friction. Very durable, too. It should last months - I was not sure how long the Brando protectors last that are being mentioned here. Anyway, I think you may find the G2 better.

Enjoy.

Just like others, I am wondering how to get the Sony protector off the screen. I am afraid of damaging the screen.

you don't have to worry much about the air bubbles they go away in a day or two. it's the lint or fuzzy's that are hell. use a piece of tape to hold the up side of the sucker ths makes it easier ot hold onto while installing it.

I figured that the recent screen protector questions that this would be a good thread to bump.
I really like MarieC's method of installation. I have the Sony branded ones but they're really similar to the Brando's. I used a modified method of this and it worked wonderfully, especially taking a length of tape and rubbing it against the sticky side to get nasty marks off.
But alas now I have scratches in my screen protector (I know, that's what it is there for) so I'm probably going to the auto store to get a scratch repairer. The screen protectors are $10 each, plus you have to go through the hassle of buying them, so I'm wondering if there isn't a product I can put on my screen protector.
I'm iffy about touching up my screen but I have no problems with touching up my screen protector :)
And I get it off by using a plastic zip tie. Yes I use the pointy end to pry up a corner.
