I asked this once before a long time back without any responses: what do you gain by "forcing" the new NetFront onto the UX?
Better website compatibility? If so, what are some examples/ what type of HTML is now handled?
I've not bothered to put the 3.1 or whatever on as I couldn't get a good idea of what the actual differences are-- the included NetFront doesn't do all I'd like, but I'm not sure the new one would either.
Support for https:// like you need at say an airport or university or other place with a password-protected wireless access (not WEP or other), that would be huge.
thanks!

Oh, come on- 66 views and no replies? There are instructions all over the forums and plenty of users :)
Is it just a bit snappier or tighter but no extra features/ compatibility, but still worth it?

I know that it will allow you to authenticate with a proxy server, including MS ISA 2004, which is a major plus for me.

well, personally i like 3.1 better. especially the zoom options. but i currently don't have it installed. I guess i figured it wasn't that much of a requirement and with the little bit of web surfing i do with my ux the default installed version doesn't seem pose any restrictions for me. Except i can't use things like google maps. Lucky theres a plam download for google maps :-)
I have no problem using netfront 3 to view my netbank account, or my work exchange/webmail account, or surf our Intranet while in the office.

I can't do anything on 3.0 with our netbanking (which do you use?), nor could I do webmail with our Exchange server at work, and I would LOVE to be able to use he UX at an airport, just to check things quickly- but I can never authenticate, even if I set up an account for $7 first using my laptop.
I didn't read that 3.1 would help with any of those, but it would be nice to have a little more powerful browser on occasion.
Anyone have examples of sites that don't work well or at all in 3.0, but do in 3.1?
thanks!

Exchange can be a bit of a mongrel on the UX - I suspect it is something to do with scripting, or worse still, ActiveX controls which will not work. In this case I would suggest using one of the Palm OS mail clients instead of the web interface.

Its Commonwealth Bank of Australia (www.netbank.com.au).
To do with the exchange and webmail, mostly i use it the webmail logon via netfront 3 while i'm out of the office to check my work calendar, or the corporate 'global address list' which isn't synced to my clie address book because I only use the free itellisync lite.

Updated NF also handles pop-up windows (you have the option to open them as the next page or stay with your current page) plus in text forms you can press enter for line breaks (in 3.0 it automatically hit the active button below the text field)

tabbed browsing, like in IE7, would be good also.

I know that the PPC version of NetFront allows for tabbed browsing. I believe that the unreleased Palm versions of NF (3.2 - 3.6) have this function too :(
