I know new NXs will come out but do you think a new TG is on its way soon too?

I think this is beginning of the new Clie soon to be released. If I remember Sony's history, they usually drop their prices and discontinue old devices right before they come out with a new PDA. It would follow that the new PDA will be in the $599 range, since this is the gap that is currently open. I wouldn't be surprised to see the TG replaced in half a year, though, as well as the NX and NZ with the new 400 MHz processors and 32 to 64 Meg's of RAM. Of course, this is just my suspicion.

You have a point. Now, I am totally convinced because they have to answer to Palm's very powerful show of force when they released the Zire 71 and Tungsten C. I am very interested in these, but am truly hoping that they will answer in such a way, that I will remain a loyal customer. If not, then I am gone and Tungsten C will be my new PDA. My hope and desire is a true T665 replacement... 320X480, 400 MHz, no keyboard (or bigger keypad for fat fingers like mine... personally no keyboard would be nice with the bigger screen), strong battery, MP3 player, voice recorder, and small case like the T665 or SJ33.

Trouble is, they may have been as surprised by the Z71 as we were. And it takes a long time to add a feature to a product. You can't just pop one in; you would have to spec it out, do a feasibility and marketing study, justify the cost and impact on the schedule, coordinate with marketing and fulfillment (the people that make the boxes, for example), get the documentation updated also, do new collateral (brochures, ads, press releases for reviewers), and so on.
It's a really big deal, which is why companies simply do not respond to competition quickly. If the news catches them at a good time, the turn-around time (to release) is probably more than six months simply because it was right before the dev cycle began and was rushed. But more likely, it takes about nine months.
The TG50 was just recently released. I wouldn't expect them to be able to do much by way of re-engineering any time soon. Maybe October.

I beg to disagree, but I have heard of the rumors of the new Clie's for some time now. Also, it has been known for some that the Palm was coming out with their PDA's. I knew about them 3 months ago. There were rumors and pictures of the Tungsten C at that time. Also, PalmSource's announcement of breaking the 16 Meg barrier was released to continue to build momentum for the new PDA's as they are coming to market. Do you honestly think that they would release this info when all of the manufacturers have released great PDA's with only 16 Meg's? I think not. Also, I think the Garmin has put that whole idea to rest. Garmin has given enough time for everyone to respond to them if they truly need time to respond.
Also, I am fully confident that Sony has been working on their PDA's for some time and have had sufficient time to have them ready for this or next weeks' releases. If they are only responding now to Palm, then they are in serious trouble will quickly go out of business. Come on, this is Sony, I am confident that they will be ready. I guess we will both see if I am right, you are right, or something in between.

I must be way outta the loop then; I haven't been hearing credible rumours in general.
The release dates have been roughly NX60/70 late September, SJ22 and TG50 were announed March 10th, the SJ33 was in February I believe, and the NZ90 in early January. Before that, the SJ20/30 were in August.
So there's a snapshot of about nine months for you. Sony doesn't quickly turn-around and replace a model. The NX-series is now due; those would be the two I'd expect to be freshened in the short timeframe. But those are already ultra-high-end systems; I would expect them to get the RAM. The topic, I thought, was the TG50, which I suspect will be "as is" for at least another four months.
Make sense?
