I have a question. I am not going to come here and lie about my situation or anything. I recently brought a sidekick II off of craigslist for my neice. I paid $110 dollars for it. It arrives and all is fine. So I charge it and it turns on and it says enter the 3 digit privacy code. I tried to call the seller and email him but naturally no luck there. It came with a simcard but I don't know if it's active or not. I called the T mobile CS and they told me I needed to know the phone number and have a account to unlock the phone. The question I have is If I buy a brand new t mobile simcard, get a new phone number and such will they be able to unlock my phone? If not is there another way to do it. The IMEI number is 010298008635235. Thanks for the help in advance.

I think you should get a new SIM card.

I think you will have better success at forums that are not PalmOS focused. Try Howard Forums.

The only people who can really help you are the people who you plan to get your phone service from, anyone else can only take guesses.
I imagine if you explain your situation they will have a process to get you setup to use the phone with their network (probably involves getting a new sim card and phone number for the phone).

Yeah, you probably need a new SIM card to get it to work.
Just an FYI, this is not a Sidekick site. This is a Palm site.

Sorry, I didn't know, I thought it was a general mobile site. I'm not good with technology but when I called the CS they said something about an account, If I buy a new sim card will they help me create a account for her, then will they be able to help me with the Code?

I think the code T-Mobile is talking about is the subsidy unlock code, but it sounds like the SK is asking for a PIN that the user would set. You might be able to do a master clear or reset to clear that out.
Try posting at howardforums.com, too, in the T-Mobile and Danger forums.

They'll know more about the Sidekick than I do, at least.
