Interesting reactions with the CF driver today...

I had some trouble with my CF card (PNY 256MB) and the NX-70, so I decided to do a clean reformat, and reload my files (mostly music).

When I went to format it with a CF card reader and my computer, I used a FAT32 file system, and transferred the files back.

But upon insertion into my NX70, the CF driver didn't recognize it. In fact, it asked if I wanted to format the disk, saying it was an unrecognized card format.

So, after a few fruitless minutes of twiddling around, i finally got it to work with the FAT file system.

Any reason as to why?

I don't recall discriminating between the two when I was using it at first... hmm... any else have a similar experience?

AS far as I remember FAT32 is not recognized by the CF driver... BUT who knows, that may someday change...

yeah.. that was the funny thing... I used the same card as before, and it was FAT32 formatted... and it worked...

Maybe it just might be all that bad crack I've been smoking lately or something.

On a 256MB FAT32 wouldn't derive any benefit. The actual benefit starts at over 512 MB. On smaller cards, FAT would be more efficient storage on smaller files.

I don't know if in fact your card was formatted FAT32. Windows itself doesn't report it acurately, or so I have been told.

I have a feeling it's actually formatted different to be compatible with both.
