I have a PEG-S320 w/ 8MB. I use medical reference tools that need quite a bit of memory. My question is, can I just buy a 128mb memory stick and put it in?

How does memory expansion work on the Clie? Is it transparent so the add-on memory is just like built in memory (i.e., you don't have to do anything special). Or is stick memory separated from built-in memory, so you can only, say, store data, or you need some special program or driver to access it, or the program you use has to be written to recognize it and what not. In other words, what are the gotchas?

I found a lexar 128mb stick for $47. If that's all it takes to increase my memory 16x, that'd be great.

I'm not an expert here... but some apps will install fine to the MS. For others, using an app like PowerRun is the best route.

A Memory stick is kind of like having a HD in your Clie'. You'll need 3rd party apps like "MSMount" in order to run most programs from it. It's slower then internal memory, but does the job.

I can't find the link, but there is a company that will upgrade some Clie's to 32 megs of internal RAM.

Lexar makes good sticks. I like the purple ones with the flashing light.

Most stuff runs fine from MS. For others, use powerun.
MS is VFS memory so it is not transperant.
Hope this helps!
