can't hotsync memopad. HELP!!!

My clie ran out of batteries (I think my little sister was messing with it) and lost all of the data. Whenever I try to hotsync memopad, I get the "illegal operation" error on my PC. It works fine if I set the memopad conduit to "do nothing." This is really annoying. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

the hard reset didn't work. Either you guys are messing with my head, or my browser's messed up, because I can't see anything under "try this:" on either of those posts.

If you're getting an Illegal Operation on your PC (you still use Windows 98?) I suggest you reinstall your Palm Desktop software on your PC. It will only overwrite the Desktop software and will not erase your data. Afterwards, set the Memopad conduit to "Desktop overwrites Handheld" in the Hotsync panel in the system tray from the desktop. Hard reset on your Clie, then Hotsync.

just did it, and it didn't work. One thing that is interesting to note is that whenever I set the memopad conduit to "do nothing," as soon as I press done, the message comes up that "File Link categories will not be updated for this HotSync option." Is this normal? I don't remember it saying anything like that before the problem came up.
