Does it seem to others that http://freewarepalm.com/ is re-posting old apps as if they have just been updated? Some of these so-called updated apps are often years old! Comments about the apps are years old. Links to the developers' websites are dead. Is freewarepalm.com trying to make it seem like they are a more active site than they really are? Is the production of Palm OS apps drying up but they are trying to hide that fact?

Haven't been watching, but wouldn't be surprised if they were. The once incredibly active Palm OS developer community is now almost dead.

Not sure what's up with freewarepalm.com, but PalmGear's listing of freeware -

http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.allfreeware&sid=C7262711-64E8-47AF-ABC2965B33286723

implies that the software they have (some of which has been around for some time) is posted as updated. Clicking on these mini-descriptions takes you a dedicated page of that program and they post the updated as well as the original posting date. Some also list the Changelog there.

As dragonsgames suggests, not a lot of new stuff seems to be created these days, but you've got to blame Palm's corporate indecision and ennui over their OS for that.

My guess is that Palmgear changed something in the way freeware was displayed on their site, and freewarepalm's site scraper got confused.

My guess is that Palmgear changed something in the way freeware was displayed on their site, and freewarepalm's site scraper got confused. It's not the only thing that got confused. PalmGear changed access, so hotlinks to hosted files don't work.

FreewarePalm says:
For Firefox browser:
- Install IE Tab add-on
- Right Click the link
- Select "Open Link in IE Tab"

An easier work-around exists, that doesn't require installing a Firefox Add-on:

Right-click the the file name under Download:
Select Copy file location from the context menu.
Double click the tab bar to open a new tab.
Right-click and select Paste in the URL bar.
Press Enter, or click the Go button.

Voila!

Actually there is an even easier one.
Click on the link normally and get the access forbidden message.
Now just click the green arrow next to the URL bar or click on the URL bar (as if you want to type there) and hit enter :)
