ok.. i got my sticks in but.... they are not the right ones... they are not the translucient ones. i really don't care about that, but the trans. were the ones with the $20 rebate. however.. dell does not have the rebate form on their website... i got each stick for $50, which is okay, but i was hoping for the $30.... anyways.. the dell site no longer lists the product. ;(
and support sux.. i spent 2 hours on the phone w/ dell... no answers...

If you follow my original link on this thread to devdeals, http://devsdeals.com/article.php?sid=3468
you will see it says "128MB Lexar Memory Stick $31 at Dell Home"
when I click on the highlighted words "$20 rebate" it brings the rebate up for me to print out. Does this help? BTW, a lot of times Dell shows a picture of the tranlucent MS, but never mention that it is the translucent one. A little bit of false advertising, but the stick still works!

I got my 128 mb Lexar stick yesterday after only 6 days. I'm suprised it came so fast, even with free shipping. I love this stick. I never knew how handy an mp3 player would be till I started to play my own tunes.

I was able to download the rebate form from devseals.com. However, the stick is no longer available from DELL. I am wondering if the $20 rebate will work if I buy the stick from BUY.COM (http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10326541&loc=101) ?? The rebate on BUY.COM is only $15, but it used to be $20 just a few days ago...

Buy it from amazon.com. It has a $20 rebate and free shipping.

dell is out of the sticks... at least the ones they advertised with the rebate. i actually got my sticks in 4 business days... stretched across a weekend... i was surprised too...
the MP3 player is a lot more fun now... i can fit about 4 CDs recorded at CD-Quality per stick... i didn't like the 96kbps... it sounded choppy...
it was funny though... i had only one stick before i ordered two from dell... and my wife was going to play bejewled(which is on my old MS) and she got mad at me because she thought i deleted it.. hehe... i told her how to switch sticks.... ;)

Dell site mentioned above: Lexmar 128 MB Memory Sticks on Dell site are no longer listed.
Buy.com is offering a $15 rebate for total of: $36.99 with free shipping
Amazon.com is offering a $20 rebate for total of: $39.95 with free shipping.
Amazon.com also offers (What I consider spooky) used sticks for $9.95 cheaper.
I'm loading up Buy.com right now to order (payday and I'm doing it before my wife finds out.. cring).
$54.94 slapped on my debit card just now at Buy.com
$15.00 rebate printed out and ready to send in when I get it.
---------
$39.94 total family long term budget impact.
That, coupled with the USB cradle I just ordered from sony.com for $36.88.. oh heavens.. I think my wife is gunna put me in the dog-house for a month! That 8 hours of overtime Monday just became esential and not optional. Hee.

Dell.com's $20 rebate form....
Buy.com's $15 rebate form....
All the same stats, UPC Code, etc. You think it'd be possible to mail Lexmar the $20 rebate with the copy of the Buy.com receipt and copy of the UPC off the box? Or you think they'd slap me around for even try'n it? :D

I bought the Lexar 128 at buy.com and sent in both a $20 MIR and a $15 MIR. I should know in 6 to 8 weeks if I got my MS for $20. I didn't bother telling the wife, no need to wake that sleeping giant.
626, try this rebate too, it's listed at the buy.com website too. I can't hurt.

Buy.com has a Lexar 128MB for $55, with handling and tax it came to aboout $60. There is a buy.com only $15 rebate floating around and then another $20 rebate for "participating dealers only" that I found hidden on the buy.com website. If all goes well final cost is $25, but you have to wait 6-8 weeks to see if it works.
It's 8:30 in the morning here and I am on my second case of baby mud, if you catch my meaning, and the wife is now sick too...

I feel bad for you man! I really do!
BTW, OfficeMax's ad for this coming week has specials on the transparent memory sticks. I think the 128 mb is 49.99, no rebate needed. Now, that's not the cheapest, but you can go to the store, pick it up at a good price, and dont need to worry about a mail in rebate.

I appreciate it man, though both are feeling a little better and I plan on tossing one back with my avatar soon.
Walk out price is very important, $50 with no rebates isn't bad at all.

I was going to use the rebate at the link posted by pigburger but then I read the fine print.
"Fraudulent submissions of multiple requests could result in federal persecution under U.S. Mail Fraud Statutes"
I didn't intend to make a fraudulent submission, but with the possibility of "federal persecution" who wants to take a chance. I mean possible federal prosecution would be bad enough. No way am I taking a chance on persecution. Does anyone know what federal agency actually performs the persecution? It might be an interesting job.
:D

02-01-2003, 05:20 PM
I get persecuted allot, so I'm used to it. The big thing is, it's not fraudulent, it's 2 seperate rebates, they just don't mention them both on the site, but they are both valid. Fraudulent would be altering reciept in order to resubmit. That would be wrong and deserving of persecution....
foghorn
02-01-2003, 05:24 PM
I didn't mean to suggest submitting the two rebates was fraudulent. I was just sarcastically making fun of the wording on the rebate.

Buy.com's UPS tracking number says my 128 MB MS should be arriving tomarrow. I ordered it Friday and it's supposed to arrive Monday. Not bad. I'm glad I choose the FREE shipping 14-21 days if all it took was 1 business day anyway. Hee.
On another note.. buy.com had the $15.00 rebate, the other site mentioned at the $20.00 rebate. When you send in the rebate you fill out the back of the rebate with your name/address, etc. I'm just going to fill out both of them and expect only one rebate, probably the $20 rebate.
The rebate gets mail'd to Sony and sony doesn't care if it was from circuit city or buy.com or whereever I don't think. They're just going to validate you bought the item in the proper time period, the UPC code and receipt shows a valid purchase and then hold up to their agreement on the rebate. I'm tempted not to even send in the $15.00 rebate cuz I don't think it matters a hoot to Sony.
BTW.. my Cradle I ordered from Sony is supposed to be in (According to UPS tracking) on Thursday! WooHoo. .another Free Shipping 14-21 days that's showing up under one week. I wonder how many people blow major money on big exspensive shipping guarantees and just waste their money?
leerm8680
02-02-2003, 08:26 PM
So you selected the free shipping (14-21 days) and it's going to arrive in 1 business day? I just ordered with the same shipping option. I hope I get the same sweet deal.
pigburger
02-02-2003, 08:53 PM
Mine took 1 day too, it all depends on how close you are to one of there distributers (buy.com doesn't stock these I'm pretty sure, I think they get sent from computer hardware distributers). Mine came from Harrisburg, PA. And for the record the rebate doesn't have anything to do with Sony, you send it right to some rebate company in Miami who handles it for Lexar.

Just got home from Arby's (my son wanted to go there for his birthday) and I got this in the mail from www.buy.com
"Hello Robert,
Just wanted to let you know that the item(s) listed below from your order #<<snip>> have shipped and are on the way to your door. "
Then it goes on to list the info for the memory stick I ordered on Sunday Night.
The coolest part was when I got home from work today the memory stick had already arived by UPS. $0.00 for 14-21 day shipping ariving in 2 days. That's a recipe for repeat business.

I bought (2) at CompUSA (had to make a return for another item) and I read my receipt. I cannot submit this for both of the MS I bought only one. I guess I will have to submit the second one on another form. This bites after all that is why I bought 2.
