View Full Version : Is there ANYTHING new lined up for this device?

I've noticed how lack of interest has set in for Palm (mostly Palm in general not just devices). 1src seems to be one of the first sites to have something new for Palm that the users developed. There almost always seems to be something for every device, but I usually follow stuff on the TX since I'm a TX user. Still, I've seen less and less stuff for the TX. Is there any possibility that there could be something new for the TX? This site usually has something that IMPROVES the TXs usability, but my guess is that most developers have dropped out of the game. Any chance something is in the works at all?

And Alex Pruss is always working on new stuff, in fact he just updated myKbd yesterday to v 1.55 that adds better key cycling support (mostly for European users).

Palm recently dropped its price on the Tx and TE2. This is what they usually do just before introduction of new devices. They are already unusually late in that cycle........... As far as I'm concerned, they can "leave well enough alone". Unless of course they are going to do something spectacular that I would like. Like a second SD port and AM-FM-TV-WEATHER receiver........ :D

p.s. SDHC support.......

The new version of the Universe browser is also being developed.

You might want to see it the other way.:
What else do you need? It's not an ironic question. You might be seeing something missing that others don't.

I thought dmitry lost interest in these TX modifications...

He replied yesterday in a thread concerning the DB cache app:

I would LOOOVE to get SDHC support in the TX-- Some sort of driver patch?. That is my one main wish for a new apP! I know Dmitry can do it, I know he can.. But he won't..

The Palm website still shows the TX at $299 which is not a price drop. Where did you see a price drop?

p.s. Just checked that link again. Price has gone back up........ but the availability is now 3 to 4 weeks. And i see it was a temporary price drop.

Native support, meaning what at this point? Just dump the existing palm TX and buy a new one?
That is kind of wasteful.. I don't think program developers should give up on an existing product already.

SURE!!! ...What does SDHC stand for again? :p

Nah, I just meant if you dig you might find some other developer to pick on :) It's way over my head ;)

I think we're going to have to look long and hard, especially considering since Dmitry "Has run into a wall backporting the Treo 680 SDHC driver". Um, doesn't bode well for our search....

That is kind of wasteful.. I don't think program developers should give up on an existing product already. My earlier post alluded to IF they are going to do a new device I would consider it worthwhile IF it included and second SD port, AM-FM-TV-Weather radio AND SDHC support......... then I might buy such a device. But, I'm happy with my Tx. :D

p.s. what I was getting at is if there is a new device on the horizon, why bother developing anything? That was based on a price drop seeming like a sign of a new device coming soon....... but maybe not.
