About the only way to change icons for apps on cards that I've heard, is to edit the app resource file itself, but this isn't something I'd recommend except for the most advertursome of you.

darn... was hoping for something a little easier :)

if you use powerrun, then you can change the icon of the shortcut that is created. or use shortcutz to create one, and then hide the original..

It isn't actually hard to edit the app resource file of an app. here is how you do it:

1. DL RsrcEdit (don't have a link but you can get it at palmgear)
2. install RsrcEdit on pda
3. Move app that has icon you want to change to RAM
4. Open RsrcEdit
5. Find app in list that you want to edit and highlight it and click open
6. now scroll down the list to "tAIB 1000", highlight it, and click open again. now you will probably see a black and white enlarged picture of the icon
7. click the menu icon, click choose (drop down menu) and then click on 8 bit (only if you are using a color device). Now you should see a similar enlarged picture of the icon but with color now.
8. Use the controls on the left to edit the icon however you like. (tools on left starting with the botton: pencil is to change color, pencil is to draw in that color, and inkdropper looking thing is to choose a selected color that you have used in the icon already)
9. when you are finished editing the icon, click ok, then done, then close RsrcEdit. The icon should now be changed.

one important note:
if after completing step 7, you get an error that says:

Missing Bitmap
There is no bitmap of depth 8. Would you like to create one?

click cancel. I tried to click ok a couple times and was able to create an 8bit color icon but after i closed RsrcEdit, I got a fatal reset and had to do a soft reset.

Yes, I've used rhart00's method, and I have two things to say:

1.  RsrcEdit doesn't work on my NX.  (I loved messing with that program on my 760 too!)

2.  If you're changing the icon of a program that is frequently updated, realize you'll have to do this EACH time you upgrade if you want the icon to stay the same.  Somebody has GOT to create a better way.  PLEASE.

/me does the happy dance while waiting for rhart00's answer

Qartus RsrcEdit
v1.017b 06/24/01
i DLed it from palmgear i think

i am satisfied with how well it works on the NX. not perfect and i do get the occasional crash (fixed by soft reset) but compared to how much i use it, that is hardly anything. would be nice to get an updated version for OS5 but i am happy with this for the time being.
