Not sure I want to be the first to try it, given Mobimate's track record. Better be good at $39.95. Doesn't seem to be hires+. No information about upgrade cost from previous versions yet.

Interesting. As of a few minutes ago, there's not a thing about this on their home page, bu there it is on PalmGear (with absolutely no information!)

Who's gonna take one for the team? There doesn't appear to be a demo, just pay your $40 and take you chances.

I gotta believe that we'll see more very soon, probably on the site. I suspect that they're in the processing of updating all places with the WMP info, although it's odd that it's appearing on PG first (and with no info). And it's not on Handango yet, so I suppose it could even be listed on PG by error.

Given that WorldMate 9.2 was released with major bug(s) and that Pro is $40, I'll wait until I hear the shouts of praise from this board before I take the plunge! I wonder if this is a "buy now, receive later" promo from PG? :D

Its sweeeeeet. Well thats good enough for me.
Seriously though, if someone gets this please post a real review. I use the program all the time and I would love updated weather features. I'm still a bit upset they won't fix the Atomic Time bug in the standard edition.

I'll wait, 40 bucks is a lot and no info!

I'm hoping it will only be $10 to upgrade. If the new features are nice enough I might upgrade. I only spent $9 for the Standard Edition so another $10 for good features would be worth it.
If I have to pay the full $40 price I will pass.

Interesting. Where/how did you get it? It's not for sale on MobiMate's site and noone's bought a copy through PalmGear yet (or at least it's showing 0 downloads as of a moment ago). Is it showing for sale somewhere else?

To Archangel,
What is the Atomic time bug? I cannot get it to work either and wonder if we are talking about the same problem. Otherwise, I love Worldmate standard edition.

Well, if you go to Palmgear, you will soon find out that "The selected product has been removed from our database by its developer!". Really PRO's approach ...

Details are now available on their website:

Doesn't look worth a $40 upgrade to me. :(

The only thing that I see that is in WorldmatePro over the SE (standard edition) are:
1) More cities in the database
2) Itinerary planning
3) Tips and tax for meals etc.
In their webpage, they do mention an upgrade price - but I am not sure whether they would classify WorldmatePro as a new product as opposed to a major upgrade.
Personally, as far as I can see - the new functionality is not something I would be after and can't see any justification in upgrading (least of all - buying a new version).

I was hoping the forecasts would be more detailed. I already have a tip and tax calculator so this looks like there is nothing I need.
Not worth an upgrade for me.

If the main thing you want is weather, I seems like Weather Manager would be a better choice and lots cheaper.

Looks like they are positioning this as a totally separate product, so I guess no upgrades for Worldmate Standard users. Better run out and grab it now, it regularly sells for $49.95 but, for a limited time only, you can get it for only $39.95.

According to their upgrade policy, looks like they were supposed to charge us for the upgrade from v9.1 to v9.2.

I received an email from them today saying a bug fix for the atomic time sync (using modem) date error in 9.2 will be released within a week.

This would be worth it if it had a PC interface for the itinerary planner much like Travel Tracker. Otherwise, I agree that it's not worth the additional money for extra cities.

I think I'll pass, it's a lot of money... :(

Their site says $14.95 to upgrade from WorldMate 9x to Pro.
Looks like a lot of memory and not much enhancement for my pupposes. I've uninstalled v9x and installed WeatherMgr. and CityTime. I think I'll stick to them for now.

15$ more for little nothings, tip calculator, etc. wow - this is new; thousands of cities in the database. what's the use as you will only use one at a time. seems like a major ripoff to me. will stick with world alarm clock and all the other freeware goodies which over the same functions.

My intrigue with this got the better of me, and since I'm traveling quite a bit this summer... well, I bit and am now one of PG's 9 downloaders of WMP. :D
I haven't played with it too much yet, but so far the one major improvement that isn't being discussed is that they now enable trip itineraries to be included. I think they bury this in the product description.
You can create new trips (eg, "Trip to Greece"), and add all your trip details. This includes pop-up data fields for all airlines and major airports (though one of my destinations in my first, and sample, itinerary wasn't in there, even though it's a major world city  ), all major hotel chains, ship companies, rental car co's, etc. All of these details can then be exported to Agendus or Datebook.
This product is so obviously geared towards the hardcore bidness traveler, who can afford to cough up 40 smackers (or have the company do it). I think that in the future, it would be a major improvement if they would include a desktop companion so that me or my assistant could add the entries into the computer and then sync it all to the pda. That would make it much easier to transfer the data when you have to do your expense report! ;)
The tipping calculator is kind of a cool addition that they probably should have just added to the standard edition and made those users happy. Also, the graphics are the same as 9.2, which I checked out before getting this edition. Everything else appears to be the same.
Bottomline: Honestly consider your traveling frequency and needs before springing for the extra $15.

Curious. How does the file size compare to WM standard, which is already obese? With the weather, does it download all 38000 cities to your Clie, or do you just select the ones you want?

Quite frankly, I cannot justify paying for more cities in the database (this ought to be free! It's plain data that anyone can enter ... if they had the inclination or time!).
To make a distinction between Pro and SE would pretty much mean to snub current users who are using SE. But it's their business call...
Oh well - I suppose I am not a high flying businessman (who would get his/her personal assistant to enter this into their palm!). :)

It's roughly 200k bigger than SE. It must have to download all the cities plus weather because when you change the city in the 'show multiple clocks' section, the weather forecast is there for you. It didn't seem to be significantly longer, though I've only synced it once so far.

I wouldn't upgade for anything more than $7.95! Heck, the only reason I got the SE was I saw some link through PalmGear when I bought something else that listed it as being $7.95 I think (I was quite shocked to see it 66% off of the "sale" price on Mobimate's own web site).
Anyone else get that 7.95 (or so) deal?

That was the reason I got WM8.7 way back when. For $7.95 I got more than a bargain. It came with a spirit that howls when TWC, Atomic Time Sync and Currencies are updated. If the Clie just beeps at the end of HotSync, that's not good. That means the spirit is slacking off, no updates for me. Now, I would only upgrade for nothing.

Thats how I bought it. for some reason I thought I paid $9, but it was $8 something with sales tax. Its a fine program for that price, but $39.95 for the Pro version is funny beyond belief.

I think anything over $10 for the standard is insane. The pro version I could see paying $20 for, if it has more detailed weather forecasts.
I remember downloading it because some said it was a good app. I agreed it was a nice app, until I saw the price tag, which, at the time, was $29.95. Luckily I wasn't eating anything at the time!

Yea, it's a rip-off at $40 -- unless it was bundled with a desktop companion. But like I said, I didn't pay for it. I wish them the best of luck with sales. I'm sure they'll either lower the price soon or somehow, despite the desperate economy and a huge drop in pda sales, tap into a business market.
And yes, the sailboat is gone.

Actually I AM a worldwide business traveller. I'm an Australian working for a UK Multinational in the Caribbean with business coverage which is global. Frequent international travel and usually talking to at least four timezones per day (just in my own 'local' region I have to deal with three timezones.)
And everything has to be done in three currencies (local, US and GBP)...and each Island in the West Indies has their own currency and exchange rate.
I've used WorldMate SE for a couple of years. Frankly I think it is a great little appllication BUT I've been (like others) frustrated by the lack of upgrades for WorldMate with particular respect to High Res.
Now they pull this stunt? A new product for $US40 which has only minor additional features and fairly estoteric ones at that??!!
These guys are nuts. Anyone who pays $40 for WorldMate Pro isn't a bona fide international man of business; just a nut case who has more money than sense!
Mobimate's business plan can be summed up as 'there's a sucker born every minute'. If they have any ethics whatsoever WorldMate Pro will be a free upgrade (but don't hold your breath).
