I haven't used my TH55 since the battery failed a couple of years ago, it was regularly sync'd to my PC. I used to keep a journal in a note every Sunday and I need to access the notes, but the PC has died. I've left that to one side so I'm wondering if I can remove the HDD and fit it in an external caddy and access the Notes?

Now for the complicating factor - I don't have a PC I've moved to a Mac some time back. Assuming I can mount the drive and access the drive in a USB caddy where would I look for the notes and would I be able to read them in something simple like a text editor? Otherwise how can I get at them?

Help please!

The directory may vary, depending on when you first installed Palm Desktop. But ultimately, you want to look for a file called MemoDB.PDB. The notes should be human-readable and they are all in the same file.

Thanks for that - I'll rip the HDD this weekend and try as you suggest.

If only I could find a cost effective way to link this to my iMac! I'd love to go back to using it.

If you get a hard drive enclosure, and get the drivers to access the Windows file system (MacFuse can do this), you should be fine.

Thanks for that - I've found MacFuse but can't get my head around what it is?

It allows other File Systems to work in Mac OS X/Finder, such as NTFS, which is what Windows uses.

This is my 7,000th post! :D

OK but I believe OS X can read from NTFS volumes natively? Maybe I'm wrong, I'll have to check. Thanks

PS congrats on your 7k

No, it cannot. It needs MacFuse :)
Installing MacFuse is simple, there is an installer which is very easy to use and is like installing any other application.
