Just as the title says,

I've bought a 2nd hand Clie NZ90 for backup purposes because "Surprise, Surprise!" my Lifedrive is in the process of dying on me.

The Clie actually was able to perform a hotsync right out of the box Using 2 separate hotsync ID's (Chaapaaiguy for Clie & Chaapaaiguy2 for LD), but for no apparent reason it stopped working after about 2 days?

The Lifedrive syncs no problem, but the Clie won't even be recognised when i plug it in to the PC, I've even wiped and reinstalled Windows (For separate PC issues, Not for the handhelds, lol!) and the Lifedrive software reinstalled fine, but the Clie still seems dead.....

Is it possible that the Clie's cradle/USB connection is shot? I've tried multiple mini-usb cables to no avail,

I'm using Win XP Pro SP2, Intel P4 3200 Mhz, 512mb RAM....

Anyone got any ideas?

Any ideas would be most appreciated.......I don't know if you are having the same problems I encountered, but it's something to look at.

I sync an old Handspring Visor Pro and a Tapwave Zodiac 2. Getting it working was a challenge, and the issue was USB drivers.

When I installed the Tapwave Dasktop, the install process removed the stock Palm USB driver provided by the previous Palm Desktop installation and substituted the Tapwave driver. (The Zodiac uses a non-standard connector, and needs a special USB driver to connect.) This broke hotsync with anything besides the Zodiac. The Zodiac also wouldn't sync unless it's version of Hotsync was running.

My solution was a custom Desktop install. I copied the Zodiac USB driver to a known location on the hard drive. Then I installed Palm Desktop. Next, I did a Custom install of the Tapwave desktop, installing only the Tapwave Hotsync Manager, over the stock Palm version. This left the original Palm USB driver in place.

When I hotsynced the Zodiac, Windows saw the new USB device, and asked for a driver. I pointed it at the previously stored Zodiac driver. It loaded it alongside the stock Palm driver, and all was well. I could sync both Visor and Zodiac.

I suspect you are having similar issues, and may need to play games with the Palm desktop to resolve them.
