I've searched this forum and the last entry I found was last month(4/22). Is WAP54G still not working with WL100? I purchased a WL100 and a WAP54G from ebay. I saw the threads after I made my purchase. Did Linksys updated the firmware to make it work the Clie? If it does not work with the Clie, what should I gotten? Thanks in advance for the info.

I didn't know if anything had changed, but you pretty much confirmed that it hasn't.

Thanks!

My experience matches yours. After using the Linksys WRT54G and the Sony WL-100 successfully for months (after updating the router's firmware), I made some changes to my home network and switched to the Linksys WAP54G. You'd think they would run nearly identical firmware but they don't--nerly identical pieces of hardware, one with a router, one without.

I've tried everything I know to make the WAP54G support my Sony wireless solutoin, but cannot make it work.

I don't understand Linksys, they have known it's been an issue for awhile now, going back almost to the beginning of the year.

I'm successfully running with a WAP54G, though I did have to go grab the latest firmware update to get it to work. It's at home, so I can't tell you what rev I'm up to.

Are you sure it's the WAP54G (Wireless Access Point) and not the WRT54G (Wireless Router)? If you've made it work with your WL-100 please let us know how! I'm using the latest rev of Linksys firmware and its a no-go at my house.

Yup, it's definitely a WAP54G. Firmware rev is v1.06, Feb 18 2003. WL100 driver v1.20. SSID: Home, Broadcast: disabled. No WEP. Using MAC address filtering. All the std default settings on the Clie except for the SSID.

Herbam, you were right! I downloaded and installed the newest firmware update for the Linksys WAP54G and *voila* my Clie NX60 and WL-100 are now on the network.

I can browse, I can do e-mail, and I can use AIM from my NX60 anywhere in the house.

Man, I love this stuff.

:)

Herbam, thanks for the info. That's great news.

Now I can't wait for the WAP54G to get here. It's suppose to arrive this week.

Maybe the issue was slow to be resolved because Linksys is about to be acquired by Cisco Systems, and they were losing employees, getting ready for the switch, etc.

I just got an email from Linksys telling me about the acquisition.

Herbam, I appreciate the info.

My D-link DI-604 router, the Linksys WAP54G, and WL100 are all working together. I'm able to surf and do the wireless sync from anywhere in the house. I haven't tried outside yet, it is night time now and with the bright NX screen, I did not want to disturb the neighbors.

Looks like I'm cableless from now on except when it is charging.

After some issues to do with the fcirmware and drivers etc. I have been running wifi on the Clie using the WL100 and the Linksys WRT54G router. No problems running from all over the house

The big problem was the WAP54G, but it looks like Linksys finally fixed it :).

They fixed this 2 months ago! I ordered my WAP54G in march and by then I already read that people had gotten this to work. You just have to read past the people who keep saying that it doesnt work.

Mind you there is no real reason to get a 54G access point since all you get is the 11MB of the WL100.
