Having lost my installation disc for Clie 50UX, I finally manage to find a CD of Intellisync 4. When I sync, everything looks like sync is in progress but nothing happens, that is my address book for example does not change! When I click on "Intellisync configure" icon and choose "MS Outlook" it says "the file or data base name associated with MS outlook is missing or invalid! and asks me to use the "browse", under "personal Folder" (it gives me only that) no file or contact appears thatI can add! What do you think is happening? Appreciate very much your help

are you trying to sync with outlook or palm desktop?
anyway, download pdt from palm site, install it, choose syncing with outlook or pdt.
you can get the hotsync driver from sonyclie.org

Thank you so much for your info. Let me tell you more of what is happening. It seems to sync but no data is transferred between my computer and Clie! I'm actually trynig to get my contacts on my desk top. I went through the "custom" on the and tried any which configuration, still no success! I have a widows XP and outlook 2003. When I had the original disk I did it in no time. Now that I've got this new installation disc I have this issue. Mind you, my computer is newer too.
Once agin thanks for your help

I opened up the file, but found a sys file and can't instal it. How would I go about to do this.

1. install newest version of palm desktop.
2. start -> programs -> palm -> pim conduit sync -> sync with outlook.
3. change the custom setting to overwrite the handheld.
4. start the hotsync proccess.
5. it will ask you for the hotsync driver. just point to the folder with the ux hotsync driver.

Golalmo,
Thank you so much for your help. I did upto point 4. However when I hotsync it did not ask me for the driver and it did not even recognize the connection (USB), although in the setup I set it as the default connection. Do I need to load the Clie installation disc again?
Once agin thank you

Golalmo,
In my previous message I forgot to mention that I loaded PalmOne. Is that a correct software for Clie?

there is only on software from palm to sync palm os devices.
try uninstall, reboot and reinstall palm desktop. try network sync and bluetooth sync instead of usb. try to use pdt 6. work just fine for me, under xp/outlook 2007.

on the overwrite handheld instructions, should we change all the functions, or just certain ones. I also didn't get any instructions to install the hotsync driver.

Now works has my contacts and calender. epocrates works with the normal hotsync, but palm desktop still doesn't store my contacts. Oh well at least it's backed up somewhere.

Golalmo,
One more question, if you don't mind! I have a desktop at home that has no Outlook so tried to sync with Palm for desktop. It seemed to sync but no data was transferred! I checked the setup and it said "COM! not available). Could that be why the data was not transferred? Could I assign COM ports myself?

i don't think that "COM" has anything to do with it. after all you sync via USB.
try to disable all connection beside USB in the hotsync manager.
