I am a bit of a newbie on this question. It may possibly have been answered in another thread. If so, I apologize for requesting a repeat response.
Question 1: What MPG format does the Clie read?
Question 2: What is the best conversion program that allows a real trial? I have heard many positive reviews of Kinoma, but they only allow a 15 second file conversion.
Question 3: Is there a way to compress the file to a size that doesn't kill the limited memory I have on my memory stick?
Question 4: What is the MPG type typically used in most downloads (i.e. video downloads etc.)?
Any help you could offer would be appreciated.
Thanks :)

1.) The NX can read both standard .MPG files and also .MQV files, which are a type of MPEG-4 file.
2.) The best conversion program IMO is the Image Converter and a full version comes with the NX.
3.) Image Converter has three different quality settings and with the lowest you can fit about 60-70 minutes of video on a 128MB stick. With the best quality setting you get about 2-3MB per minute.
4.) I guess it depends on where you get your downloads from. I get movie trailers from Apples site and they are all in Quicktime(.MOV) format. Other places have a lot of .MPG and Divx(.AVI) files.

Thanks for the advice. I have an additional question. How do I ascertain what format my MPGs are in? I've had a couple that would just play on the Clie. The rest would not.

Not sure. I have had a few MPGs that would not work. I got an app called Virtual Dub, if you do a search on Google you can find it. It's free and it allows you to convert most videos into a different format. Theres a lot of settings, but if you play around with it, its fairly simple to use. What I do now is take any MPG that doesn't work, and then open it in Virtual Dub and convert the video to Divx 5 format, and the sound to uncompressed format. The Image Converter app handles those all the time.

Yes, Thanks Cbulock! I've had Vdub for a while but I never quite figured out the settings for converter to work consistently.

Cbulock,
I'm looking for a tutorial on how to use Virtualdub, do you have one on your website? If not where is a good place to go? I need the "video conversion for dummies" level.

No, sorry, I don't have a tutorial on my site. I'm not all that great with video conversion, just know enough to do what I need:D
Maybe if you ask in the video forum, some of those guys are really good with things like that.
