I just thought that if there will be an os update 5.22 or even 6
that WILL enable more than 16MB - we might be able to upgrade the memory
Is there someone who knows if the NX's have space for such memory ?
I have a relative who's N760c got upgraded to 16MB so maybe our 16MB can be upped to 32MB or even more....

The were reasons why it was not possible. The newer models coming out will the newer processor. The other thing was either no having enough room to expand it or no place to put it. BTW, it's not going to happen for any OS upgrades, only new models. The N710 upgrade to the N760 was the last by Sony. Then you had to send it away for a fee to have Sony do it.

but maybe os 5 is easier to upgrade - who knows. otherwise, why have the rom there - the handsprings allways didnt have rom to save on the buck...
palm enabled a lot of software upgrades and there is a new version of os 5 out that supports over 16MB
and sometimes you just take out a chip out and put a bigger meme chip instead...

My modest opinion is:
Technical it might be possible..... but then again I might be wrong.
Anyway, Sony will make it impossible for us, why "Its a Sony". Just consider the classic CF slot example, where all types CF cards can fit in, but of the million of cards only the WL100 works. Okey Eruware is a good start, but is not perfect.
It's a conspiracy of Sony.... Why should they make it possible to jeopardise the MS sell.

again - in the N710c and most palm os 4 models its possible to upgrade to the limit 16MB
its just a chip replacement and there are technicians that do it
But this can't be just a chip upgrade -- the OS will also need to be upgraded as well. I'll probably have to buy one of the silly things to support Graffiti 2, but I don't want one for personal use. I like Graffiti, and don't want to be forced to use Jot...
