Help me choose my first Clie :)

Hi,

I until recently have been a user of Pocket PC's but found that they just stayed at home the whole time, because they were so cumbersome to use.

After that I decided to get a PALM OS system. Having looked at the PALMS I did not like their design, plus heard that MP3 playback is not as good as Sony's (after all, Sony does a lot of music equipment).

So, I shortlisted 2 Clies which I really like.

SJ33 or TG50 at £50 more expensive.

I like everything about the SJ33 except that the technology is a bit dated, and I would like to play some games while I wait in airport.

What would you recommend me?

To try them out at your local store and decided for yourself - asking questions like that around here you will get alot of diferent opinions (which might be what you want) - my opinion is the TG is nice but I dont like thumboards, so I would get the SJ33 over it....but for a little more cash I would buy the Zire 71.

Actually in UK, Zire 71 is £205, SJ33 is £220 and TG50 is £275.

I want to use my PDA for everything (games, mp3) but I heard the MP3 playback is not as good on the zire71.

I believe the problem is that its mono, not stereo.....this would bother some but it wouldnt make me lose sleep. The great thing about palm is they support developers so there are a few really good players out there that support VBR and Ogg - where as Sony is just getting around to releasing API info (and not enough to make a player) so your stuck with Sonys player which does not support VBR or Ogg......its a tuff decision but the Zire has newer tech than SJ33 and a built in (low res) camera. I just dont see where mono over stereo would be that big of a deal, but then again I dont use my PDA as a mp3 player too often.

Well, that is a big deal for me, but the SJ33 got a major fault of not supporting large media, which makes a worse MP3 player than TG50.

I would buy a TG50 over SJ33 anytime but these issues that TG50 has, and SJ33 has not, worry me:

Wavy Lines
Worse Battery Life
Memory Stick is heard in headphones
Cover is not see through (not a big deal :)
Bigger

The SJ33 still has alot of life left in it.....there are not that many OS5 only application (none I know of, just a few games). There are alot of OS4 based units out there and they are still being sold so I wouldnt be concerned about lack of apps......my choice of the two would be SJ33

Yeah, if that 128mb issue could somehow be hacked, that would be amazing.

I don't understand how my very old laptop accepts 1gb ms pro, while new device like this doesn't. Didn't old os4 palms accept big SD cards...

Correction.....the Tungsten C is MONO - the Zire 71 is STEREO.....I just checked this out on the palm website :-)
