I got my TH55/E1 today! The first things I noticed (coming from a UX50).

The unit is small, especially compared to the UX+EB40.

The screen is larger and brighter than the UX.

It seems to be faster than the UX, I am not sure why.

The Jog Dial kind of hurts my wrist, but I am sure I will get used to it.

Input is a little slower than my UX50, but does not add the strain on my thumbs. I am thinking about purchasing Mini-Keyboard (but it is $20, a little much for an application that just provides a keyboard).

The power slider is hard to use. I hate the placement of it.

Battery life seems to be great, especially coming from the UX50.

I have the PEGA-GC10, but it does not seem to work with LJP. Anyone have any ideas on this?

The fourth button, I could not find a thread on this... can I add extra functions to this? I like the ones included, and would like to keep them, but can I add functions such as disconnect bluetooth, open volume setting, view battery, view memory cards, etc?

I ordered the PEGA-VR100K as well. Anyone else using this along with their TH55? How well does this work?

Welcome onboard the TH55 bandwagon :D

It's been so long since I see someone on this board so satisfied with a newly obtained gadget (well, I'm sure it's because not much stuff as good as the TH55 are produced any more nowadays...)

A TH55 responds faster then a UX? I am surprised as it's the same processor. When I switched from a NX to my current TH, I felt that it's slower, especially the audio player. Yet I got used to the lag, and I'm happy that the lag on HHE devices are much better then that of Palm NVFS devices (the T|X, to be exact).

I also hate the power slider, yet it's already better then the flimsy slider on the NX73/NX80, which brakes every 2 months (I once sent it back to Sony for a slider replacement, which broke after 2 months, just as the original one). I've always used one of the four main buttons, or the capture button (assigned to something else then the camera), ever since my NX slider broke, and carried that habbit over to my TH.

The 4th button on the front, you mean the strange "data use menu", right? It's interesting that I haven't seen anyone hacking that menu. It seems handy, but I always feel that it should do more then that. In the end I found that what I have gotten used to on my NX has gotten carried over, and found my self constantly pressing that button assuming that the notepad would show up. Thus I now use THeGoGo to assign that button to the notepad and make that button also awake the device, just as in older Palms.

With the slim form factor, metal frame around the screen, and reflective cover, I always thought the TH55 design must have somehow inspired the design of the iPhone :) Don't you think it looks similar?

Yeah - Use ThGoGo! to reassign the 4th button, then you can uninstall ThGoGo and the assignment will stick! :D

I wish someone would figure that out a way to do that with the VoiceRec slider and camera buttons 'tho...

lol, I want to keep the functions, but add new ones. I don't want to just reprogram. Anyone on using the Game Controller with LJP?

To Cyker:
You could reassign the VoiceRec slider and camera buttons to lots of other stuff with KeyQuick (Use the "key combination" function that would assign any pressed buttons to your desired function). The problem is that you would need to cope with that weird Japanese-style English, if you don't understand Japanese. You know what I mean if you are familiar with Appshelf :)

Regarding the 4th button, I guess it depends on how you are going to use your TH55. When I got my TH55 I was not sure how to use the 4th button either. Now I can't imagine not having it. It so often happens to me that I need to find someone in my addressbook, search in my appointments. The 4th button is absolutely great for this. Maybe if you plan not to use Clie Organizer then it may not be so great. But I am a heavy CO user and I greatly appreciate having the search button there.

I use the forth button to switch to landscape mode. Works well for me.

Does it edit the button assignment in the system prefs, or is it like Sharky's, where it installs yet another event hook to watch for the key being pressed?

With Sharky's, once I remove the program the button assignments stop working - I want something that just sets them without 'running in the background' as it were.

I think I am going to find an App that uses it to launch DA's (had this on my VZ90 with the same button). I can use (whatever that app is called) to create apps as DA's, then launch it. Along with a DA to remove the status bar.

I guess it's more like Sharky's.

To DG:
Keyquick can also assign a list of DAs to that button, yet you have to set up a "side menu" full of DAs (or any normal App or function), and assign that button to launch the "sidemenu" you made. There is a limit of 12 objects in a sidemenu, though.

Setting up Keyquick is quite complicated, yet it is very powerful. The more creative you are with it, the more you can do with it (You can even make multiple sidemenus and make one link to another...). It's a flexible, peculiar launcher that you get addicted while playing with it, feels a little like Quicksilver on Mac OS X in that aspect.

Yeah, I use it as a homescreen over any app, but it is kind of hard for me to figure out, but I am sure I will get better the longer I use it.
