I recently switched over to ZLauncher from SilverScreen and it is the best decision that I ever took regarding my Clie. Everything is so much more polished than SS. There is however one feature that I miss from SS that I haven't found in ZLauncher - maybe because I've missed it in the reading. So I'm hoping that perhaps someone knows: In SS one can drag an icon over the Info button and it'll bring up relevant information about the application. If one taps the icon, one can pick from a list of available icons (others can be added or purchased later) and the new icon takes the place of the old. Since I like uniformity and ZLauncher supports Hi-Res icons, I would like to replace them with hi-res counterparts. I tried looking at the documents provided with ZLauncher that attempt to describe the procedure, but its a little too technical for me. Can someone please tell me if this is possible? If not, perhaps shed some light on the documentation provided by ZZTech?

Thanks in advance.

ZLauncher itself doesn't have that capability, yet, but you can use AppIcon to change icons in ZLauncher. After replacing them in AppIcon, you have to refresh apps in ZLauncher for the new icon to show up. I believe you can also use any of the old Silver Screen icons you may have been partial to. There are also a few ZLauncher hi-res icon sets that automatically replace icons for the default applications with hi-res versions.

My next question is: What is "AppIcon" and where do I find it?
This is not obvious to me. I'd appreciate further guidance.

google (http://www.google.com/search?q=palm+and+appicon&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) worked pretty well for mehttp://images.ForgottenNewbies.com/emoticons/wink.gif

AppIcon is here:

you can use it with either low res icons or hi res icons, but for hi res icons to display correctly in appicon, you need to have v3b hack installed. The icons will display correctly in ZLauncher, once changed, even without v3b hack installed.

That's something I miss too, Brokken, though I would never look back after using Zlauncher. I have emailed them about it and they said they would consider it in a future version. I'm going to try Appicon and see if any SS icons will work. Thanks for all the good info everyone.

Just a reminder: once you import icon sets into AppIcon, you can delete or move out of RAM the icon dbs as they are copied into AppIcon's own db. This will free up precious RAM! ;)

I've also noticed that, but my icons seem to be sticking now. Have no idea why. I did notice that it happens most often after running AppIcon, even if I don't make any changes.

ZLauncher has the ability to replace any icon. This includes system, apps, and apps stored on the memory card.
However, as Brokken mentioned, it's difficult to do. You have to put everything in the correct order in in the iconset iTbl resource (in hexadecimal).

I'm currently working on program that will make it easy to create custom iconsets with just the icons you need. Not quite the same as SS, since the iconset will be made in Windows. But on the other hand, you won't be eating memory with icons you don't need.

Festus that's great. It's the one easy to use feature I miss from Silver Screen. It was worth the change to Zlauncher though.....fantastic launcher!

Thanks Sebring...I just tried AppIcon and it worked great. I downloaded the Gort's icons from Silver Screen page and used them.:D
