View Full Version : Keylock and Pocket Tunes...
(This function will disable the navkeys and the 4 main hardkeys when ptunes screen turns off.)
Just sharing a discovery I made 5 months ago, I dont know if its been discovered previously.
I dont know if its just my palm, a glitch, or some random explanation, but if you set Keylock (in prefs) to manual Pocket Tunes will partialy keylock when the screen turns off.
It doesnt matter if the screen is turned off automanicaly or just by Tapping (not holding!) the power button. Buttons on the palm (except power button) will not be able to affect pocket tunes when the screen turns off.
Key points:
1. Pocket Tunes does not actualy launch the keylock program, but (I suspect that ptunes) uses some atributes from the keylock program instead.
2. There is no "tap here to deactivate" prompt upon hitting the power button to turn screen back on.
3. Will allow you to carry your palm in your pocket (while playing music) without the palm changing tack or volume.
4. Function was found using pocket tunes 4 (please notify if it works on older versions)
5. Underclocking pocket tunes below 234mhz will cause problems with this function

thanks tho... but some questions here:
-Do you remap your HardButtons to some MySkin/MyKbd macros (if you use any of them)?
-Do you have the "ignore screen taps" option in PT off? does it work if you have it on?
:) :D thanks ill try this bugish feature on my glitchy palm ;)

Yeah... I've known about this for about a year - it's been there since v3.18, IIRC ;-) It's a great feature not a bug. It's listed in the version history of PTunes.
@ChurchPunk - Yes I have myKbd macros to my a couple of my HBs and they stop working with this feature enabled.
- I also have ignore screen taps enabled. I carry my TX in my purse so it gets jumbled around more than in a pocket. It works.
- NOTE: If you use an alternative "PowerButton" app ie: map one of your HBs for on/off - the ONLY app that will work in conjunction with this feature is AuDoDo. PowerBtn & myKbd macros and CenterMenu don't work - you'd have to use the actual power button (although PowerBtn dev said he'd look into but that was long ago) to turn the unit back on.

1. Yes I have myskin and all keys are macros, the only difference is that even though keys maped to lauch programs (and da's) will disable. Ive found that the recent and favorites will launch if pressed yet the screen will stay off, and recent and favorites will not launch a program because the centerkey will not be able to choose a program. So if the recent and favorites key is pressed, then you will only see the list when you hit the power key (which you can close by touching somthing not on the r&f list)
I dont think I've ever had a problem with acidentaly pressing the 4 hardkeys, my main relief was that the navkeys were disabled
the glitch should also work if you dont have myskin/mykbd
2. Having "ignore screen taps" option checked is almost common sence if your going to put it in your pocket. Yes mine has it set and the glitch still works.

lol you posted right before I did, thanks for informing us
Oh and if you are wasteing a hard key just to launch ptunes (and its on top console) I suggest that you use "ptunesDA" found at the regular palm program websites. ptunesDA launches ptunes if no music is playing, and launches the console when music is playing.
AND another enhancement is using Dmitrys PowerVolume app to get rid of headphone hiss. I went so far as to acessorize it so it can be used as a DA.
*note1 that powervolume doesnt work for everyone, its kinda a 50-50 chance that the palm will be able to run the app*
*note2 powervolume doesnt play nice with warm resets, dont put the program in ram if you dont have uncache (do not put powervolume in uncache's list). If you dont have uncache, install the app to card instead*
*note3 Some people had success using rlock to run the program*

Do you mean that you have HA enabled to dim globally? I too use HA but only dim certain apps after certain amounts of time, instead of using the global option. I do not have PTunes set to dim via HA because I have PTunes set to turn off the screen after 30 secs.
