Alan, I was surprised that you did not mention AvantGo as an alternative off-line web page viewer. I use AvantGo's RSS feed service on my T5 and find it both reliable and easy to use. I've not used any of the services you mentioned on the podcast and wonder whether they offer anything different than what is readily available on AvantGo.

I had used AvantGo in the past. I purposely left Sybase (formerly iAnywhere) AvantGo out of the mix because in the past they were really slow to update their software to support new devices. I also found AvantGo to be a bit of storage space hog.
That said, I do have to agree with you, that AvantGo (http://www.avantgo.com/) is yet another alternative solution for downloading live content off the Internet and for viewing content off-line.

Another great podcast Alan. Lately I have been happy with MobiPocket Reader for RSS feeds, even on the desktop, it is a very good aggregator for free.

MobiPocket Reader! Yet another application I haven't gotten around to playing with yet. Only if I didn't have to sleep...
Glad you liked the show.

I sometimes use TopStory from Iambic for my RSS needs, it's free too.

I also have been using NewsGator Mobile on my iPhone and 755p and really like it:

They offer optimized versions for mobile devices

I use NewsCopier (Java) for my TX (way better than TopStory for Hires+ devices).

Nice podcast
TX 2 please my one is current going through its woes!
Guess I should get around to recording a audio podcast (use my treo for it :P )
Here is what I use for news on my TX:

or if you are data challenged like me on my treo: http://news.bbc.co.uk/low/english/pda/default.htm

Was only recently made aware about the existence of Snap (thanks to Dick Tracy :D ), it might indeed be a valuable addition to GtD workflow as capture tool ;) (will thinker with it during holidays)
PS thanks for the 'embarassement' ;)
The possible TX2, while not using Palm OS II on short term, should be capable of being reflashed so the OS can be changed from OS5 to OS II. IMHO a 'normal' PDA is a lot more logical platform to test out a new OS instead of a full-blown smartphone.

Yes, DT made a great call on Snap. I was able to get my copy free before the closing bell the price went up to $9.95. I don't subscribe to GtD, but I've cooked up my own system for dealing with things, and Snap will help.
You're welcome.
If Palm really does use a larger memory chip in a TX|2, then they should allocate space for Palm OS II. That would be a nice upgrade for the dedicated fan base.

I also use AvantGo. If it wasn't for seeing someone using Avantgo on a Visor Deluxe in the past, I would not have got a Palm in the first place :) It's easy to use, has good content, and the software works great, so I stuck to it. I did try Mobipocket, but setting it up takes hours (updating the content is also slow), and it gets buggy occasionally, so I gave up.
As for the TX2, I like you point of splitting up the onboard memory. In addition to that, the software on the T5 that allows you to connect to a computer as a USB storage device or an SD card reader should come back. Also, I would suggest naming the 2 partitions "Applications"(for the RAM) and "Docs and media"(for the free use space), and let people install Apps or Files by drag and drop, as if using a thumb drive. That would make it much easier when teaching friends how to install stuff on to new Palms. (the "you can only install PDB and PRC files on to your device RAM" thingy was always very hard to communicate to neophytes.)

I too have given up on Avantgo, being too slow to syn.
Now using QuickNews. Liked the RSS feed of stock & comics in addition to news feed.
On TX2, the DB cache definitely need to beef up. Ram size and SDHC too. Also if the onboard speaker can be improved to some decent audio quality would be excellant (at least on par with the Treo680 speaker audio quality).
