Is it possible that the indicator can be messed with charging leading to inaccurate forecasts of %discharged, etc?
I know my Sony Digicam has a little warning about the battery indicators not being accurate when you do some wierd tango with the charging.

The battery indicator's function is limited as a consequence of the way the lithium battery discharges. In brief, it will hold maximal charge for a long period of time, then relatively quickly discharge after extended use. So, you may stay at 100% for, say, 3-4 hours, then over the next 3 hours drop to 20% quickly.
All my Sony PDAs have done this. I can assure the naysayers on here that it has nothing to do with wether or not you initially charged the device prior to using it...
It's best to just charge it every night, then realize that when your battery starts to drop below maybe 80% that your amount of charge left is limited (turn off the backlight, use the hold function, etc.).
Lastly, there is NO NEED to deep cycle these types of batteries. You will only shorten their lives by doing so.

Deep cycle means to use the batteries completely until the unit is dead, and then charge to full again.

Oh sweet! I thought the exact opposite, I thought deep cycling meant to constantly charge the battery even if it wasn't in use. Sweet!

Congratulations, you've inspired me to make a new Abstract-type piece based on depleting energy, although ,tis not 100% in synch with what Deep Cycle actually stands for :D
