i have a nx70, viking 1gb card and a generic 6 in 1 usb card reader, i can access the cf card, read and write to it, but when i put it in the clie it will not play half the mp3, and any program i try to copy from the cf card to clie crashes it.

if i install the same mp3's and programs on a ms using the same reader i can then copy them from the ms to the cf card in the clie and they work no problem

if i try to delete something using the reader, when i put it in the clie all these wierd folders show they vary in size ranging from 200b to 40mb i can not open the folders or delete them, i have to re-format the cf card

help, i have tons of mpegs i want to put on my cf card and no viable options to get them there.

i applied the system update patch, it mentioned something about exturnal readers but it was no help

i also tryed formating the card using the clie and the pc no difference

did you download the MS pro patch?
apparantly you need it to make the CF driver work with mp3s.

I'm not sure why other programs placed on CF card would crash your clie? Perhaps your card is defective?

ok i made some progress on this, i moved to my second computer thinking xp could be the problem, my second machine has 2000pro

i can now move mp3 from my computer to the cf card with the reader, without those weird files showing up, but the mp3 still woun't play correctly

it sounds like it's playing in fastforward, like on a tape deck. i then put the same mp3 on a memory stick and moved it to the cf card with clie files, plays normal

(again to lazy to log on, trying this for hours)
