I have the following issue with HotSync, which is little irritating:

The HotSync stops working after some time working on a computer. The symptoms are the following:
- I initiate the HotSync process by pressing the button on a cradle.
- The device gets recognised and listed in the windows device manager.
- But the syncing process doesn't start
- The Clie gets stuck in the HotSync screen and the only solution is to wait for a considerable long or soft reset

After the reboot the HotSync works again.

My laptop is HP nc6400 in a docking station. Operating system is Windows XP. The only other USB device connected to the comuter is mouse. HotSync is setup to automatically start after login.

Has anyone seen this? Is there an easy fix to this? Can you help me, please?

Can the Hotsync icon bee seen in the taskbar?

Some times Hotsync won't startup, I do not know why, when this happens the icon doesn't appears on the taskbar, normally launching Hotsync manually solves the issue.

I don't think this is a particular TH-55 problem but something else to do with the Hotsync set up.

Some users will report hotsync problems due to insufficient time of warming up the computer. If you don't see the hotsync symbol in the toolbar, it is not time to hotsync.

If your computer runs on standby, then previous usb use may interfer with the computer in interpreting whether or not the USB port is to be used for Hotsyncing. I myself confuse the computer further by using a USB hub.

Most likely you have two USB ports, one for the mouse and one for the Hotsync cable. You sure nothing else was plugged in previously, or the mouse port USB was not switched?

I had the same problem with my TH55 on my desktop.
I suspect the cradle connections are faulty (either on the cradle/cable or on the TH55).

I noticed that if I seat my TH55 comfortably in the cradle and wait a few seconds before hitting hotsync, it **tends** to work better. But still , sometimes even that extra care does not help

I ended up syncing only with wifi, so in my case it became a non-issue. But it used to be a real pain. I grieve with you...

Can you tell me how you configured your PC and Clie to HotSync over WiFi? I spent whole afternoon to get it working, but still unsuccessfull.

My configuration is this:
- Notebook is connected to a corporate network via normal LAN (therefore there is already some IP address assigned to its fixed LAN inteface)
- I want WiFi to run in an ad hoc mode
- I am using Microsoft dialog to configure WiFi on my notebook

What happens:
- When I tap HotSync, Clie initializes WiFi connection.
- There is a message saying that Clie is connected to my AdHoc network
- But nothing happens, the hotsync doesn't start (I did check Network and unchecked Local USB in the PC part of HotSync)

My Clie works fine in my home network with WiFi router.

I have gone through various posts in this forum, but nothing worked for me.

I realize that there is probably not a simple answer to this. But anyway, I will be grateful for any hint or advice.

Thanks in advance.

to viktorn:

Could it be that you overlooked step marked in bold below ?
Other than that I never had any trouble setting up my th55 with my wifi router. But I also didn't use any "fancy" settings :p like adhoc mode and the sorts (no offense meant).

29) tap on hotsync icon.
30) Tap on menu.
31) Tap on Modem Sync Pref. Select Network. Tap OK.
32) Tap on menu.
33) Tap on LANSync Prefs. Select Local HotSync. Tap OK.
34) Tap on menu.
35) Tap on Primary PC Setup.
36) Plug in the following:

Primary PC Name: !! (yes, literrally two exclamation marks)
Primary PC Address: 192.168.0.1 (your own pc address)
Subnet Mask: ____________(blank).
