I know that the downloadable matrix reloaded trailer (final theatrical trailer) is not encoded correctly to be converted for play on the TG50. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to convert it? It would be very cool to have this trailer. BTW i love showing off my TG50 to people by playing video clips for them. Non tech savy people freak. "how did you get this on here!?" "What else can it do?"

The following steps took 2 hours to do. So here's what I did using dark79's tips, originally found in this thread:
http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10702

1.) Download RAD video tools. I don't remember where I downloaded it from but you can get it at http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm (Don't worry, it's free).

2.) Open the original MOV trailer and click "Convert a file" in the lower part of the window.

3.) On the next window that appears don't change any settings. ("Convert video" at the top should be checked and "Convert audio" at the bottom should be checked). Hit "Convert" button on the right.

4.) When it tries to convert a window will appear asking what kind of compression you want to use. I chose "Cinepak Codec by Radius" If you don't have this listed, then you're on your own on finding it and installing it. I honestly don't know what codec I installed to get it there (if I installed anything to get it).

This will make a large AVI file (mine was around 70MB). Run that baby thru image converter and you'll have a 9.6 MB MQV file that'll look better than the Kinoma version (and it'll have sound too )

I don't know if its the same thread that fireball listed, but you can download the MQV file (MQV is the movie format used by NX-series but is compatible with the TG too) which is about 9 megs. You have to manually create a directory structure for the MQV whereupon importing the MQV into your TG50 within this directory structure allows the Movie Player to recognize the file for playing.

It is teh pants to play on the TG50, fuggin awesome!
Uh... here, lemme give you instructions dude...

1) Download the MQV version of the Matrix Reloaded trailer here: http://files.erevo.com/MatrixReloadedTrailer.zip

2) In the root level of your memory stick, create the following directory structure:

/MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/

and dump the MQV file in there.

3) Play it via Movieplayer on your TG50.

Now, you might have a little trouble uising MSExport to transfer the MQV into that directory structure. Because I am using WinXP Pro, it detects devices like cameras, digital camcorders, and the clie as well, and treats them like a new drive. Therefore, when I slide my beautiful TG50 into its sleek cradle, I get a new removable disk drive listed in my computer. I can then create the directory strucutre and transfer the MQV the way I would if I were working with an ordinary directory and file in windows.

Just fiddling with MSExport now though, I believe you can control where you dump certain files depeneding on their extension, so you'll just have to tinker with that.

Cheers!

Ack, too bad then, I downloaded from there the other day. The dude must've taken it off, sorry!

You can see this page:

The same link is there, and thats where I got the MQV. You might wanna check the end of that thread, I believe they post some sites where you can download MQVs. That way you wont have to tango with the 2-hour conversion thang.

Remember this is the TG50 forum. Resolutions might be different.

If you have quick time Pro, you can export the MOV with the right compression (default stting) I believe. I could only get RAD video tools to work once, and it took a long time to process. Exporting from QT Pro took about three minutes--of course I had to buy it.
