Hi, I'm new here and need some help. I was given a practically brand new zire 72s that wouldn't turn on. Figured out that problem by simply opening it up (thanks to the posts on here) , unplugging the battery and plugging it back in (must have been stuck in a loop and drained the battery or something). Anyway, got it all put back together and have been getting all my software from my TE to play nice on the Zire. Got that all figured out last night and went to beam a couple programs over from the E to the 72 (that I'd forgotten to back up and then sync). Well, the IR doesn't work now and it was ok when I got the unit. I've opened the case back up thinking I must have accidentally knocked a connection lose. However, while I can easily open the case and comfortably disconnect all the cables, I can't seem to get the circuit board out of the back half of the case. I can get the right side to pull up, but it feels as if the left hand side (with the voice recorder) is glued in or something. I'm feeling a bit paranoid now that I've apparently done something to the IR port and was hoping someone on here had helpful suggestions for me.
Thanks,
Maureen

Edited to add: I'm an idiot--just realized there was a screw there I hadn't taken out. *smacks head*

Nice to read a report on opening your Z-72. Definitely the companies try to discourage amateurs by putting in screws that are not normal.

Sometimes hot melt glue can prove to be useful in gluing back parts, also various stickydouble sided tapes....

The most common way to hide a screw is behind a label, fortunately they didn't use that trick on you. However some labels are meant to show that a device has been opened or not...

I agree on the companies making it difficult for amateurs to get into the new devices. It certainly wouldn't have been an easy to open case without the great instructions on 1src. :)
