I have been reading various information on TomTom6 with a T3 and am interested in knowing other's experiences on specific items.

From what I understand, TT6 works with T3, but it's not supported. Since TT6 has a cumbersome registration method, wouldn't that keep a T3 from being registered?

What kind of bluetooth GPS receivers have worked best for this configuration?

Would TT5 be better for my basic needs, since it is supported by TomTom? Would it be difficult to get it registered?

If I buy on ebay, will I have trouble registering it? Is it necessary to register it?

Thanks for any responses.

Mike,
TomTom says that each app is user and devise specific. So you might be unable to use or register it.
They say the T3 cant handle the map configuration.
I bought Nav5 Bluetooth from Office Depot for $149+ It included the Bluetooth Mark II receiver, Car Charger, Maps (US & Canada) and all instructions.
I think it is great!!!
Easy to set up and very portable if you wish to move it from car to car or in your pocket while hiking.
I have had trouble registering any thing bought on ebay. TomTom's support is excellent so I wouldn't think of not registering it.
You can't beat the Office Depot deal

PS They say "Ships when available" because OD has to order it fom TomTom. I got mine in 5 days.

Thanks todflog.

This looks like TT5 not TT6 right? (which may be okay)

On the link you provided, is this for the BT receiver too? If so, this seems to be a great price.

If it's for TT5, does that version of the software show the "3d heads up perspective" or whatever it's called? I like that view but not sure if it is only on the latest version.

I just ordered and am looking forward to receiving it and getting to use it. Thanks for the link, as that seems like a very good price.

Mike,
You have to install the maps to a SD Card. This has to be done while preforming a HotSync with the T3. Once each is installed to a SD Card it then can be moved to a file on your computer and back again to the SD Card as needed. Much, much quicker than the original installation (12-14 hours for each of the 6 major US map segments).
I am still learning the product but I will be glad to help if I'm able.
I've enabled this thread to notify me if you reply.

Tod,
I am having difficulty obtaining support from TomTom regarding the "downloadable" file which was supposed to be on their website in order to enable full-screen mode using Navigator software on my T3. I was told it was not currently supported since they have newer versions of Navigator. (I did not suggest I was using TT6 but this is working just fine, thank you). Since neither PalmOne, nor TomTom are willing to look up in an archived file somewhere, was wondering if somebody might be able to help me with a copy of the Palm install files. There do not appear to be any live links that I have searched, so far. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you meaning the Palm DIA compatibility prc's? Those are the only files that give programs (not just TomTom) access to the full screen. I don't recall any specific T3 files from Tomtom.

If those are the files you mention, there are many places to find them. One such is on Splashdata's site at:

I will try that out and I hope this will enable the TomTom screen to be able to utilize the whole landscape. Thnaks!

fwiw, I use TT6 with Holux BT GPS on both T3 and TX, on T3, it works flawless, on TX, it works, but, is problematic.

yes, you need the 2 DIA files for T3, not just for TT, for anything
