Last night I put my E2 on charge for a couple hours when the battery meter was at 1/2. When I unplugged it and turned it on then launched TealDoc, it popped up the low battery warning and the screen went sort of half white.

Then the backlight shut off but I could still see the battery warning. It wouldn't turn off or reset, so I left it all night to run the battery down.

At 9:00 AM it was off and I plugged it in, there was no beep so I poked the reset button and it did. I set the date and time and left it plugged in until midnight.

I unplugged it, turned it on and immediately it popped up the extremely low battery warning! I plugged it in again then unplugged it and the battery meter jumped to 1/2.

2 hours and 24 minutes later, right now, it says it's fully charged.

sounds like the charging circuit might need reset.
Try an "in-cradle" reset. Basically, plug the charger into the wall and Palm, and while it's charging press the reset on the back of the Palm, then switch the Palm off and leave it for about 3 hours.

Hopefully that'll make it behave, but failing that it might be the battery...

Yes the E2's battery indicator is a bit weird, it takes a while for the battery meter to register appropriately battery strength. I usually click to file z and check the battery strength, then refresh to battery strength to see if the status changed after 15 seconds.

Probably it is best not to leave the E2 on the charger too long, experiment on different methods ands timing and see which charging times are best for the E2.

I've owned my E2 for over a year, how long have you owned yours and what method of charging do you normally do for yours?

I have it plugged into the USB synch cable when I'm at my computer, then I read in bed for quite a while then plug the charger in when I'm done reading for the evening. In the morning the E2 goes with me for the day.

HI,
IMHO, tapping on the battery in the Favourites app shows the percentage of battery power available!
