I would like to purchase a programme that allows me to print from my Palm T/X, especially from Docs to Go. Ideally, the way this software would work is that I could plug my T/X via Hotsync Cable to any computer and print. This function is important for me as I travel a lot and need to print on many different printers.

Is the above a dream.....or does something like this exist ?

Thank you for any replies.

This may do the job:
http://www.handango.com/avantgo-channel/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=141&platformId=1&productType=2&productId=33663&sectionId=1271&catalog=1&topSectionId=-1

Alternatively, I bluetooth a D2G file to my computer then print from the computer.

You could also move your D2G file to the SD card (if it is not already therea0 and then use Card Export II to plug your hotsync cable into any computer. The SD card then shows up on the computer as a volume (hard drive). Then from that computer you select your doc on residing on the card and then Print it as though it is any other doc on the computer.

Card Reader is another software app that will let your SD card be "seen" by a PC as a Mass Storage Device thus allowing you to print from any PC connected to a printer.

OB

PS No software is require on the "host" PC

Well, a couple of problems can come up.

The CURRENT version of Documents To Go uses Native Formats. Both DTG and Printboy seem to work together, but the problem is that Printboy does not support native printing except Word and Text Files.

If I'm right Documents To Go 9 is the version that does have save in a "to go" format and therefore it allows Printboy to print it.

Another couple of solutions are QuickOffice and PrintEZ. QuickOffice doesn't support Office 2007 like Documents To Go does, but it is able to save in it's own format (you can transfer a native file to your Palm and it will save it in QuickOffice format) and Printboy can then recognize and print it. Sad thing is QuickOffice isn't currently equipped to work well on a TX due to NVFS tech. It has errors like reseting sometimes randomly, if you bring up keyboard it could reset, etc. It's not the best solution, but it's the most mobile in my opinion because it can let you print any native file you get as long as it's not Office 2007 format.

PrintEZ can print anything, but the bad part is that you have to have it's program installed to a computer that is connected to the printer. It is then able to connect via Wi-fi, send it to your computer and from there it prints. It give a IR option, but I haven't tried it and don't know if it would still be able to print in any format at that point.

So there isn't a completely reliable solution except maybe a earlier version of Documents To Go and Printboy.

Hope this helps.

TlX comes with a free copy of Print Boy. You can get it with Addit. Addit has an option to download Print Boy. I use it to print to my laser printer.

Really? This sounds odd to me since I could only find 'try' and 'buy' buttons for it, not a get it for free button.

That was true for the LifeDrive, but not for the T|X. (At least was true for my LifeDrive, and wasn't true for my wife's T|X.)

I suppose someone could port an rtf2ps utility and add network support...

Thank you for the very informative replies. I will have a go with Print Boy. It sounds like the most appropriate solution at this stage.

P.S. Dr. Pruss I have purchased a couple of your programmes and they are absolutely fantastic. Also you have no idea how many messes NV Backup has got me out of. (Sorry but saw your reply to my post and could not help but express my appreciation).

Also, for a quick printout of a few lines of text, one can use PrintIt DA, which is a screen print utility.
