Total Newbie with Questions

Hi, Just got my TX. Enjoying it so far, but having some problems with the PC that I am connecting it to. It doesn't automatically recognize the TX anymore. I have to manually start the HotSync. Don't know if this is normal or....Also, Rhapsody doesn't see the device so using Media Player to transfer music, it works, but not all files will transfer. Is there a better program than Pocket Tunes?
Wondering what apps would you seasoned TX users consider essential? My main uses for the TX are taking notes in class, ebooks (going into a medical field) and listening to music on the way too and from school, but I'd obviously like to know which utilities could prolong the life of my new friend. I have some experience with Red Hat, so open source software is a definite option.

Maybe this will help you with the hotsync - in the palm desktop..click on the hotsync tab, then setup. Open the tab "General" if its not open and you should have 3 options there - make sure the one that says "always available" is checked.

If that doesn't solve the problem, hopefully someone else will have a solution for you.

Hope you enjoy your TX. I've had mine a bit over a year and a half (my 3rd pda) and there is so much you can do with it. Or you can keep it to the basics, whichever works for you.

It's good that you found your way here. I think I camped out here the first 3 months I had a pda :rolleyes: - there is so much information at this site and so many helpful people. I hardly ever posted - most of the info I needed was easily found, but you don't have to be as shy as I was. Welcome!
