Hello All,

I know this sounds like a real stupid question, but what do you all have on your NZs, that 16 (or 11) MB isn't enough?

This being my first PDA, I am still in the process of figuring out exactly what I can do with this thing. But so far I have my web browsers, chess program, vnc client, plus some of the bundled apps - I believe I still have ~6-7 mb free. I see folks here calling for 64-128+ mb palms... I guess I just don't know what's out there that takes up so much ram. Storage is an issue for me, but that's taken care of by a couple of 128mb memory sticks.

Oh, if anyone can point me to a ssh2 client, or an email client that can talk pop3s, I'd be much obliged!

I enjoy having multiple DVDs ripped onto my CF card currently have six top self movies including Matrix, Spiderman, and of course Gladiator. ( about 800 MB memory all said)

I also have over 40 eBooks including many fine SF novels from Asimov, Tolkien, Crichton, Grisham, Terry Brooks to name but a few. ( about 50 MB memory each 400 to 800kb )

I also have over 45 different Mp3s on my 128 MS and 1 GB CF card combined.

I also have over 2MB worth of photos on my CF/MS combined

So you can see where memory is important.

All I need now is a larger MS pro preferably 512MB or 1 GB and then I'll be set.

Problem is some software needs to me on internal memory which is limited... like programs that need to be hot sync'd such as worldmate to update the weather or mobile pocket to get current news or balance log to communicate with balancelog on the PC, these unfortunately can not be moved onto MS/CF card or they will not update/function properly.

hi,

Well, you must be thinking "I would be fine with 5 megs of Ram and a 1 Go Memory Stick", but many programs like video players & audio players need to be run from the internal ram in order to perform.
Witch means, more Ram equals better applications, video players etc...Ram is a lot faster than Memory Stick and uses less power as well.
This is why I think more ram would be nice as I use my handhelds as multimedia devices I require performance on that field.

have a nice day'

Hi RipDogger,

I am curious which Tolkien novels you have and where you found them.

I have kept an eye out on most of the top e-book sites but haven't seen any Tolkien.

Thanks

Elliyanna, they're not official ebooks. you can find "illegal" ebooks on [links removed] (usenet)

All I have to say is install PICSEL VIEWER ( about 1.8MB) and RIFLESLUGS( 2.7MB) I have Pocket Quicken installed as well as a Dictionary that takes 1 MB for vfs cache. I also have My Work Bench installed and all the SONY update for the NZ90.

Then see how quickly the space goes away.
The main thing you have to keep in mind> as the Palm OS improves and programs get more complex, you will NEED more room to run programs. Also there are many programs out there that will not run off the MS or CF

The more the merrier. Never can have enough RAM, some have accumulated 100's of programs over time.

The only point is not needing to run apps off the MS. One thing you will notice though, which is VERY true in the PC world, the more RAM available the more LAZY the programmers get. I suspect you will start seeing Palm appz that are 5MB to 10MB now that the TC has 64mb. The end result is that you will end up able to store the very same number of programs but they may be better looking or more enhanced...

I am sure when you have had your pda for a while, and start looking for apps, that you will understand. I have many games; My Bible; about 14 or 15 nursing apps; Splash Photo; just to mention a few. Almost every app I have takes up some of my Internal Memory
