Is there any address book add-ons or anything that provides letter tabs at the side or something, so you can go directly down the list to an area of names?

You could take a look at Contacts 4. I don't use it, so I'm not sure what all of the features are, but it looks pretty robust.

I still use the built in app. What I did was deleted all of the categories and made them A-D, E-H, I-L... and so on. Then I categorize each new name by last name into the appropriate category. When I'm looking up a name, I can press the jog dial in until I am in the right range of last names, then scroll down to the name I want. Great for quick one handed operation. I have about 120 names, so this would be more/less effective depending on how many names you have in your database.

Iambic Agendus (http://www.iambic.com/agendus/palmos/) is, in my humble opinion, the single greatest PIM enhancement you can use. It satisfies your needs, plus the enhancements to the datebook and to-do list are excellent. I purchased this product back when it was called Action Names, and I've stuck with it through countless updates. Yeah, it's THAT good.

Agendus, but perhaps overkill if you're just lookin' for tabs. SuperNames, same thing. Go to "Clie Files", Applications" and "Replacements" and you can see some PIM replacement programs.

I agree about Agendus... It has a great address book as well as all the other options it offers.
I had Contacts4 for a while, and although it is a great program and very visually appealing, it is over 700k and was not worth (for me at least) the extra memory required since Agendus had the same tabs at the top (although not as graphical). Just a matter of taste I would think...
