View Full Version : Any program for speeding up processor speed?

I really appreciate TH55's design of varying processor speed depending on load... however, for particular program I really want TH55 to run at its full speed. For instance, it's quite unacceptable to wait for 4 second delay to start TMP (datebook replacement).

Any idea? Thx.

Try WarpSpeed http://www.palmpowerups.com

Alas that proggy probably won't work.

The TH55 doesn't have an ARM chip - It has a custom CPU+Chipset called the HHE and nobody's figured out whether you can overclock it yet.

The max speed it will go at is 123MHz, and unless you're using dmitry's HHE auto-speed thing (I forget what its called  ), CliePet's Underclocker, Sharky's UnderclockerDA or Clie AudioPlayer it'll probably be running at 123MHz...

That's the main weakness for HHE-based PDAs like the TH55 - They're slow.
They're still more responsive than things like the TX because they do everything in 'real' RAM and never have to go to Flash, but anything that involves a lot of crunching will be slower on a TH55 than, e.g. any of Palm's gear.

Thx all.

Cyker, to start TMP sometimes it takes less than 1 second but sometimes it takes longer than 4 second... therefore if it can always run at 123MHz, I think it might be enough.

On http://palmpowerups.com/downloads.php?cat_id=2&rowstart=30 the top item is THclock DA which "A DA to change the clock speed of the TH55 at any time."

And it's free.

Ah! Thanks, that was the one dmitry made that I couldn't remember the name of :)

(How's your Origami thing coming along these days? :D)

Thanks!

I also found Sharkclocker which is quite worthful to try

It seems that the reason for the delay is that too many photos are attached to the Address record, altogether the Address takes up about 1.5 MB ram and I estimate that over the years I've added over 200 photos to the Address book. As a result, it takes 4-5 sec delay each time when I swap from Address to another program. Even speeding up the CPU speed this problem couldn't be solved.
