View Full Version : T|X Bluetooth Stack: Updates to Connect to Cellphone?

I've been trying without success to use my Verizon MOT e815 cellphone as a Bluetooth modem from my T|X. The problem is not (any longer) the e815; I've patched what needed to be patched and signed up for a data plan, and it works fine as a BT modem for my laptop. It seems, instead, that the problem is somewhere on the Palm side, since the T|X connects fine, but can't keep the connection open, and the phone very quickly times out and disconnects, even when I'm online with a program like Verichat that keeps the connection live. The phone gives me a DORMANT message, then about 10 seconds later disconnects, although the T|X still thinks it's connected.

So here are my question: is there either a way to keep the connection constantly live (e.g. constant ping) while using other apps? If not, is there some kind of Palm or 3rd party update that might improve the BT connectivity from the Palm? I've tried all the suggested scripts without success, and everything is pointing to the T|X as the problem. The only thing left for me to try is to hard reset and try from a clean T|X, but I'm hesitant to do so since others with different configs have had the same problem.

Anyone have any insight into this? Thanks. {Jonathan}

Hi, I have the same trouble (same phone, same palm), the only way that I find to keep the connection alive, was using the pTunes internet radio.
If you find another way please let me know. :(

That actually worked at least somewhat when nothing else did--well done! Now, if I can only find an Internet radio station that broadcasts silence, I'll be in good shape. {ProfJonathan, now trying to figure out the most efficient way of launching PTunes' Internet radio just to get online}

Further on this--I got this to work, and it was humming along, except when I was using AgendusMailSSL to check my mail and my T|X crashed, it came back with all preferences gone. All my display preferences, everything. Not fatal, but interesting as I haven't seen that before.

I'm going to experiment with this some more before I decide whether it's worth the money to keep the Verizon data plan going. Probably won't for now, but it's nice to know that it will work as a Bluetooth wireless data option if I want it to. {ProfJonathan}

Reduce the PTunes volume to zero. Running silent.

Dmitry,

I was going to write you to ask whether you could write exactly that! If the app runs in the background the way PocketTunes does, that would be PERFECT! {ProfJonathan}
