Okay, another problem:
I just received my N760C Back from Sony. There was something loose inside, and they apaprently replaced the boards and the digitizer. Not long after doing a hotsync, the unit froze and required a soft reset. I did it, and the unit would no start up. When I did the soft reset, the backlight comes on and the unit goes through the "Palm Powered" "Clie" as usual, but then it freezes up on the screen that displays "SONY". Hitting the power button at this point does nothing. A Hard Reset displays the "Palm Powered", then directs me to hit the "up" button to erase all data. When the button is hit, the backlight comes on and the unit freezes on the "Palm Powered" screen.

The only thing that works is a warm reset (holding the "up" button while hitting the reset button). The unit starts up and will let me do a HotSync. However, the system seems to be stuck in lo-res mode. Trying to check the "Enable Hi Resolution Assist" in the preferences gives me an error stating "the application cannot be run becuase the required system files are missing." The jog dial and back buttons don't work either. I also get an error stating "application internal error occured (code: 0X8303(33539))" when I try to run AudioPlayer.

Any ideas, or should I just try sending it back to Sony again to get them to fix it?

Thanks!

Did you managed to fix the problem you describe, if so please help me as I am experiencing exactly the same symptoms on my N770, i.e it will only start by pressing the reset and holding down the upkey also in Lo resolution.

I am not suing the N760 anymore, but things did seem to work better when I let the battery die completly, rechanrged it, and re-installed everything. I still get a "fatal exception" crash after using the job dial, but a soft reset works to get the unit back into working order.

Thanks Frank, I will give it a try. As a matter of interest did you replace with a new PDA, if so what did you get.
