I cannot figure out what is running my battery down. Every time I leave it uplugged from power and try to turn it on the battery is dead. I have 'power' settings in "Preferences" as follows: Auto-off after 30 seconds, On while charging: Off, Beam Receiver: Off. Is there somewhere else that I need to change settings. I always turn it off when done, but later will observe that it has turned itself back on. What is doing it? Thanks for your help. I"ll have some questions on setting up email when I get this problem fixed.

Check if there are any system alarms (thing that wake the device up when it's sleeping). Use something like Palm Internals, or Resco Explorer.

I would first download PalmInternals (http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-457.html?PalmInternals) and check to see if there are any alarms that are going off that you're not aware of... Then, I would also check to make sure my BlueTooth antennae was turned off and not set to "Discoverable".
If those don't fix the problem, post back again - and we can try something else. :)

Hi, Wingrider. I think you could turn off the TX while it charges. Also, have you turned off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth? Simply disconnecting isn't enough--you need to click on the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth icons on the status bar and be sure they're set to Off. Also, where is your screen brightness setting? If you click on the time setting on the status bar, you'll see a bunch of useful info, including a slider that sets brightness. I made the mistake at first of assuming that pushing the slider most of the way to the right meant that the screen would be paler--it turns out that it doesn't mean paler, it means brighter! You want to be sure to push the slider as far to the left as you're comfortable with. I'm told that screen brightness is one of the major drains of power. If you push it all the way to the left and still think it's too bright, you can install a freeware program called BrightnessFix.TX at http://www.palmpowerups.com/downloads.php?cat_id=2. It's the second one listed on that page. (If you install it, first make sure that your brightness setting is somewhere in the middle. If you install it while your setting is all the way to the left, your screen will be totally black.)
There may be some other things you can do, but these should help.

I don't know I think we have a copycat here :D that was funny we even mentioned the same app.
One more thing to turn off: IrDA -- this drains the battery much faster than either Bluetooth or WiFi.
One thing I've noticed is that my IrDA keyboard driver is a real culprit here -- sometimes it seems to randomly turn itself on and then drain the battery overnight. In turning itself on, it also turns on the IrDA sensor, and polls it continuously (waking up the device in the process).

Em, you make a good point about IrDA. But how do you notice that your keyboard driver turns itself on (a scary thought  )? I've been assuming that if I've set my Wireless Keyboard to Off, that should take care of things; am I wrong? Is there something else I should be doing as well?

Hi, do you have Reset Doctor installed?
If yes there is and option in Cache Management to 'keep cache log'.
When you first select this you are warned it will turn on your Palm every 15 minutes until you unselect this feature. There is no other warning after this.
If you turned it on and forgot about it this may be your problem.
All the best, woz of oz
