...(which I don't have) and decided to mod the original PEGA-AC10 charger supplied with my UX as I no longer use it. Since completing my JCB40-1800 cradle mod (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108682) my original UX charger has sat gathering dust as I no longer have the correct port in my cradle to accomodate it.
Since then I have been charging my UX direct from my PC's USB port or using the mains to USB charger supplied with my Sony NWA-3000 mp3 walkman. Both of these methods take hours not least because the NWA-3000's charger pumps out a mere 800mAh.
This weekend I turned up my old PEGA-AC10 charger and noted that it had a 2000mAh output. That got me thinking...
So I bust open the case on the charger to have a look inside. Once I had identified the contacts to which the UX lead connected, I determined to add a USB-A lead to the contacts retaining the original lead just in case I ever needed it again. I chose the USB-A lead because the aforementioned cradle mod has a type A USB port mounted in the side and I try to do my charging through the cradle's batteries.
Unfortunately there is not much room for anything else inside the charger's case, so I bit the bullet and chopped off the original lead. leaving a small stump of copper wire still attached to each of the terminals.
I then stripped the USB leads red and black wires and connected them to the relevant contact by simply twisting the wires together with the copper stumps left previously. You can see the wires on the right-hand side of the circuit board.

Once I was satisifed the contact between USB lead and charger contacts was sufficient, I then taped each wire separately to prevent them shorting out inside the charger case. Look at the big patch of yellow at the bottom right corner of the PCB.

I then shut the charger case and trailed the USB lead out of the hole left by the original charging lead.

And then comes that moment of fear I have whenever I try any mod. Plugging it in!

As you should be able to see, the orange charging LED is lit, the UX is powered up and there is no sign of smoke or other electrical damage! So now my UX should charge much more quickly just about anywhere in the world with the correct mains plug attachment. A few more, poor quality pics are available here (http://s184.photobucket.com/albums/x27/Ravening_Wolf/).
None of this is rocket science, but I thought I'd share anyway!
