View Full Version : KeyQuick or Docs To Go problem?

I have had a problem with Docs To Go since installing version 10 which is driving me mad. I can type a new Word document quite happily and all is great until I make a mistake - as soon as I touch the Delete key on the keyboard, Docs To Go exits. Strangely, if I hold Shift + Delete, Docs to Go quite happily deletes the preceding character, but I have to remember to do this and when in a rush, I tend to forget.
This problem is driving me nuts and I can't find anything about it on the Dataviz (www.dataviz.com) website. Can anyone help?

I don't use DTG 10, did you try to put KQ "off", to see if KQ is responsible ?
Do you use PsLink ?

It can very easily be KQ. If you check KQ settings for the Delete button, you will probably see the "Ctrl out of the field" setting turned on. This means that if the cursor is not in an editable field then the simple press of the button works as if Ctrl was pressed, too. In case of the Delete button, the default setting is Backspace for simple press and Back button (the button next to the JogDial) for Ctrl+Delete. If you are in a field and press Delete, it does a Backspace but if you are outside fields it does a Back, in this case exits the program (so you don't necessarily have to press Ctrl+Delete to exit, it's enough to press Delete; very handy, but sometimes does not work properly).
The problem comes from the fact that the typing area of DocsToGo is probably not the type of field KQ recognises so it thinks you are outside of fields and applies the "Ctrl out of field" concept.
You can turn this off in KQ specifically for DTG. I expect to have my unit back tomorrow, I can then give you exact settings but it's quite straight forward so you'll probably have it done by yourself by then.
Quick question though: does DocsToGo 10 work on the UX? Dataviz says DTG10 doesn't support the UX.
PS: I'm not surprised to see antoinepierre show up as soon as a KQ related issue comes up. ;)

Guys, thanks for the quick responses. As suspected the problem was to do with KeyQuick and as per Kappa's suggestion, unticking the "Ctrl out of field" option for the BS key cured the problem.
Thanks a lot guys - I'm a much happier typist now!
And yes AntoinePierre, DTG 10 does seem to work perfectly well on my UX50.

Great to hear that. I was hesitating to upgrade but I'll go for it then.

Are you only using the Word part or also Excel? Every time I exit Excel I need to reset my device (Error. MemoryMgr.c, Line:36756, Invalud chunk ptr, etc.)
PS: Also, Word/Excel doesn't go landscape for me. (Haven't tried it with CodeDiver, yet.)

Good point - I seldom use Excel so there may potentially be an issue there. Word works fine with CodeDiver though.
UPDATE - I too get the Invalid Chunk message when exiting Excel. That said, the document I created and saved was still available and uncorrupted, so the application works, it just doesn't exit gracefully!
Woo! Post number 1000!

You put it nicely. :) Thanks for checking it, m0nkeyb0y! I'll give it another try then. :)
