If I remember correctly, Noise cancelation is done by using a small chip in certain headphones that interprets sounds comming in from a small mic and makes the headphones emit an inverse sound frequency that "cancels" out outside sounds.

Dmitry made a program called vdub that alows you to use the palm as an amp, so is it possible to create a noise cancelation system on the palm?

If possible, I rate this project as an "advance programers only" idea, because it involves a fair amount of knowledge in sound, and the ability to utilize backround playing.

project is trivial to implement, but will not work.
to work the speakers and mic need to be VERY close

The speakers and mic also have to be very close to the target (in this case, your ears). Otherwise, they can still get out of phase, not to mention audio won't get cancelled out as heard by your ear, but as heard by the mic.
