i wanted to do a bump to this threat:

http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124052&page=5&pp=15

the problem i have seen lately is that my TX is very stable and somwhat faster when UnCache is not active (but i can not, obiously, play games -ljp, doom, duke3d etc...), and gets some resets when it is active.

I never get a reset when i am in warm reset mode, and i have the same stability when uncache is not active. But when i activate UnCache ive seen that i get some resets when changing from different apps (say blazer to appshelf, or ptunes to resco explorer). The funny thing is that blazer opens like a blazer with uncache desactivated! The same speed as it does when warm reset mode. If uncache is active, blazer takes time to flush the dbcache (white screen).

I came to some questions:

-Why is warm reset so fast?
-Which basic apps, or hacks fixes whatever, are loaded when in warm reset mode? (read the question, not which are disabled)
-Can we add those apps, or hacks fixes..., to the UnCache list to have the same stability and speed on a normal use?
-Am i getting something wrong with this cache concept? (i have thought about that :o ;) )

cuz if its one "incompatible" app that is creating this, then why does my tx is stable when UnCache is disabled; it loads every single app on ram, including those i add only to the uncache list, isnt it?

dmitry, any help pls?

1. A warm reset stops almost all programs of type appl, panl, etc. from receiving the reset signal. I think files of type ovly might be the only exception.

2. See 1.

3. UnCache only stops files of type appl from receiving the reset signal. This means all the other stuff you might have loaded will still load, which is why you might be experiencing problems (say, from a rogue panl file). Therefore, everything enabled for a warm reset is also enabled for an UnCache reset.

4. You're close, but slightly off. I hope my answers above helped clear some things up.

A note about why Blazer boots without flushing in warm reset mode:
It doesn't need to flush the cache because there's virtually nothing in the cache. If you make your UnCache list small, Blazer boots fast too.

AFAIK, Dmitry isn't working on UnCache currently. However, the UI is open source, so anyone who wants can mess with the source and add features like the highly requested "cache sets" and "temporarily disable" features.

Should they be included in UnCache the remaining applications of Dmitry, as PowerDIGI, and UDMH?.

UDMH should be included.
I don't know about PowerDIGI although I don't think it matters.

PowerDIGI should also be included if you're using its extreme calibration.

Thank you, I will include "UDMH" and "PowerDIGI" in "UnCache." Since I began to install "PowerDIGI v2" in their diverse versions, the last one that there is in the web of Dmitry, even has problems with "ResetDoctor." They are produced unexpected reset with the message: "Reset Doctor Rocks!". I believe that the problem is in "PowerDIGI." I have eliminated "PowerDIGI" and "ResetDoctor" of my Treo 650, and everything goes perfect without them at the moment. Do you know something on this problem?. Not you if to return to "PowerDigi v1."

I recommend you new "Softick Cache", for any Palm (especially for LD), aunmenta the speed of Palm in a very remarkable way.

Greetings and thank you,

FWIW, I ran UnCache on my T5 for a few months. After allowing for all the apps that needed to be marked in the program, it increased my dbCache just after a reset from 3MB to 5MB. When I came across the issue that UnCache disables certain Blazer links I looked at it a bit more closely and ran without it for a while.

To be honest, I've not noticed any real change in reset time and I reckon my T5 is a bit more stable without it (just a feeling - I don't count up teh crashes as they're few and far between (unless I'm testing an app and trying to crash it); I've concluded that UnCache doesn't add anything for me and it's staying off.
