Has anyone seen this news article about a car cradle for the CLIE?

Anyone know about the availability of it and which models it will work with?

Although the image above looks like a concept drawing of the cradle, it will be nice if it will work with the NX series (depending on the price also). I noticed on the features list it say's its UniLink capable which I means I would be able to hook it up to my Sony headunit already in my car and maybe control it too? Only time will tell. Thanks for the info.

This is what I was looking for!!
Will be my dream come true. The text to voice application is perfect when driving (I guess there is a lot of people like me who have a long boring drive after work and will enjoy to listen to stored emails, news, articles or other texts).
The GPS voice prompts is something I'm looking for now and I can't find anything good for the NX70v (I'm looking for a mapping software and a good GPS with that functionality).
The charger and cassette adaptor are a good plus.
I find the price ($300) very good. Let's hope it will be available soon and the voice features, GPS functions and map views would be of a good quality (for PDA standards at least).

It looks like it is compatible with only NX73, NX80 and TG50.
Do you think NX60/NX70 were not listed as they are not sold any more? (I would be very disaappointed if it won't work with my NX60)...

It does not work any previous models only the newer ones that are out and coming out...

and i mean newer ones like future NX series, and ones that are out like 73, and 80. So in other words no the 70 and 60 will not work

i'd pass for $300. who knows what your next clie will be, and if it is compatible. plus, this limits the gps to in car - not something you can carry too easily on a hike or to the lake or on a boat. i just bought a pharos bluetooth gps receiver also for $300. works great, and i can always use a bluetooth memory stick with any future model (unless it only take duo) and have compatability.

I will be one of the FIRST people to buy one of these. For car use, it has EVERYTHING I would ever want - voice recognition, GPS, and MP3 for my stereo! Perfect! If it keeps my Clie charged at the same time, all the better :D

Dont' think it has voice regonition? It has text to speech to read out stuff (appointment and emails) on your NX tho.

the cradle does not have voice recognition. what is has is text to voice and voice prompts. the 'voice' comes from the unit, not to it.

Can anyone recommend a good gps receiver that works with the nx80v. Ideally I'm looking for something that can handle marine maps as well as road maps.

You know, a good point was made over at PIC - the NX60,NX70 might still workwith this, but aren't listed on the Sony site cuz they are officially discontinued. Sony's definition of "supported" likely doesn't include discontinued products (let's hope).

If you are willing to purchase a bluetooth memorystick. Got mine at Expansys (http://www.expansys.us). I recommend the Fortuna GPSmart which you can purchase from Semsons (http://www.semsons.com). You can get a 10% discount if you sign up and make a donation at GPSPassion (http://www.gpspassion.com). I've had the GPSmart for a few weeks now and it works well in all types of weather, even heavy thunderstorms. When I place it on my dashboard it acquires the signal within a minute. If its not near a window, it takes a little bit longer. Once the signal is acquired, you can put it in your glove compartment and it will still work fine. I use it with Mapopolis and it is very accurate as far as location, speed, and direction. Works seamlessly with Mapopolis, but the new Mapopolis Palm Navigator does not fully support Clies yet.

the NX60/70 DO NOT WORK WITH THIS CRADLE!!! Only the newer units will work on this cradle.. Theres no maybe it might work, it will not work I know this for a fact. But I can not discuss in depth about this. Im just letting you guys know it wont work at all..
