View Full Version : Beaming in out out of Memory Stick

I did a search and about 48 threads showed up and I didn't find anything about this.

Is there a way to beam from the memory stick or into the memory stick? I know I can beam applications on the mem stick, but I want to be able to beam anything on the card to someone who also has a card.

No, we never did find a solution to this particular issue. There were many ideas that didn't pab out. If there is, then I am not aware of it. Everything still travels through RAM first.

This should become a priority in my opinion. With more people using AvantGo on the MS, and more people putting large files on MS and CF, people that travel (like me) might want to transfer such files from a laptop to the Clie.

I guess what I am suggesting is being able to use MS IMPORT by infrared!

What do you think?

This program is supported in OS 4.1, don't know about OS 5...called CFZap

i am able to beam and receive amost anything using McFile

A new program I saw at Palmgear called "My Workbench" claims to allow beaming anything from the ms and cf. (It is compatible with eruware's driver.) Haven't actually tried this yet, just passing info. . .

Don't know about beaming directly to a stick, though.

Infrared can't mount a drive, but it can Hot Sync to the Clie.

Does McFile allow to receive recieve it to the MS, or do you have to "manually" move it there after accepting it?

If my poor memory somewhat serves me, I think one of the problems is the size of the file being transferred and having to go through RAM first.

That is exactly what we are talking about here! And if you can map out a MS/CF drive through the port on the bottom of the NX (using MS IMPORT/EXPORT), why can't you do it with the infrared port?

Yeah, size is the main problem...without an app that somehow allows you to beam directly to an MS/CF card, all you're doing is skipping a step (ie, going into the file manager and moving the file you've beamed), so if you want to beam an app that's larger than your free RAM, it's not gonna happen.
