This is a utility for popping an application up on top of another application.
New feature: support treo opt+key 1,2,3, as well as the Treo side button.

Here's a beta of a version that fixes treo button hold issues. I'd appreciate hearing from treo and non-treo users whether it doesn't break anything else:

Installed the beta on my TX and ran all the normal things I've assigned to various buttons. All still work. I haven't tried anything else. If you need something specific, let me know.

I've noticed, since installing v1.10, that the hard buttons don't always work. It could be that they've all developed dodgy contacts (or a common contact is dodgy) - or there could be something interrupting the commands.
Just an observation, in case others have a similar experience...

Is it the press or the hold that doesn't always work?

And is this any better?

Alex,
It's tended to be the press that isn't recognised. I posted the query to see if anyone else came back with a "me too" as it's one of those situations where you suspect it's a local issue and only realise it's not when somebody mentions it!
I've now installed the revised version. I'll let you know if it's all OK in a few days - I'm probably imagining it but it seems a bit quicker response to the keys.

If I have OnTop set to a key press and a myKbd macro set the same key, but a press and hold, the macro won't work.

Yeah, the documents say so. :-) Getting these things to work together perfectly is really hard, even if one is the author of both.
I've a couple questions about OnTop and Accessorizer.
1st. Is the latest Accessorizer .91? And if so, does it show that in the about screen? When I download it from here:
http://www.1src.com/freeware/fileinfo.php?id=1674&page=1
it doesn't say .91
2nd. With OnTop, can I still generate DAs that other launchers can launch. With Accessorizer, I made some DAs and used HiLaunch to launch them. With OnTop, I dont' see them anywhere.
I like OnTop's press and hold to launch, but I have 2 other DA launchers I'd also like to use.

1. The latest Accessorizer is 0.91. It should show this in its main screen. And, yes, it should be available from 1src.
2. OnTop doesn't generate any DAs. Accessorizer does.

2. OnTop doesn't generate any DAs. Accessorizer does. Not intending to put words in your mouth, but it is worth remembering that Accessorizer created DAs continue to work when OnTop is also present. They can be launched by MetaDA, for example, or my mySkin/myKbd macros.
I thought OnTop replaced Accessorizer, but can I install them both together?
See the post prior to yours for the answer.

OnTop actually makes use of a hidden copy of Accessorizer while it is active. OnTop is meant to make it simpler to launch appications over one another than the procedure with Accessorizer, but under the hood, they are working together.
If you check your files with something like FileZ while OnTop is active, you'll find a copy of Accessorizer. If you change its properties by unchecking the Hidden box in the attributes tab and save, you'll find a copy of Accessorizer in your launcher. Once it is unhidden, it will not be deleted when OnTop is turned off. And you can use all of its features just as if you had installed it yourself. Finally, if you have installed Accessorizer separately and then add OnTop, once it's turned on, you will find that your version of Accessorizer has been replaced by the one contained in OnTop.
Long way of saying yes, you can use both. In fact, you can't avoid doing so. But using Accessorizer separately is the only way to create DAs that can be saved and launched by DA launchers.
This is a really creative piece of work, IMO.
Excellent info. Thanks to all who responded.

I still would like reports on this new version. :-)

I still would like reports on this new version. :-)Well, I wasn't having any trouble with 1.11, but I just installed this version (which also seems to be 1.11). It still works fine for me. All of my settings are for holds, not presses, though, so I am not sure how helpful this report is. I wasn't sure what the issue was in the first place.
I still would like reports on this new version. :-)

Sorry for getting off topic. I installed OnTop onto my Treo 650. I set the second button to launch a CalanderDA on a long press. Sometimes, I couldn't press the button fast/short enough to make the DA not launch. Other times, it worked fine.
Later I added a CalculatorDA. Then, almost everytime I pressed, no matter how fast/short, I'd get the pop up list for the DAs.
I had no noticed problems with just regular press activations.
There, now another question: any chance of deactivating the DA in a different way? I don't have an "App or Home" key. Everything on my Treo is accessed via HiLauncher or other key mods. I don't want to have to assign an "Exit" button. What about pressing the activation to activate the DA, then pressing it again to deactivate?

Alex,
Latest version seems stable on my T5 and, although I can't be sure it's not my imagination or wishing, it seems more responsive. I've not had any repeat of the buttons not working, either.

Is this problem there in the version linked to above?

I just looked at a photo of the Treo 650. There is a home key right above the calendar key, no?
Yeah it has a Home key, but via other software my Home key actually opens MyBible. Like I said, I don't have a Home key because I use HiLauncher and some other programs to launch my apps. As for the probs, I gave up on OnTop and am just using Accessorizer.
It can't be overstated, though, that this is simply amazing software.
