So today I went to go listen to the 1src podcast on my palm, open up Pocket Tunes, and it asks me if I want to check if there is a new version. I'm already connected to the web via my home wifi, so I say what the hell go ahead (knowing that I think I have the latest version 3.18 or sth). So it checks the Internet, and tells there is a FREE update available to 4.03! In the past I could've sworn it says v4 is available, but it's a payed update. It asks me if I want to DL it, and I say sure. It downloads and everything, and says it's registered on my TX (boy that new blue skin is sweet :D )! Is this happening to everybody, or is this some weird anomaly, that I got v4 free?

Hmm, did your registration code stay the same?
I can't try this out for myself, since I did buy an upgrade to verison 4 deluxe, as a way to support Normsoft for their excellent player.

Nope, its a free upgrade but since its basic I know I would have updated to delux like usual

The problem is I don't know what my old reg code was. It kind of looks the same, but I can't be certain.

I tried this twice, once by copying the file to RAM and the second time by copying it to the SD card and moving it to RAM. Both efforts left me as if there were no update whatever.

The from PTunes website: "Enhancement: Customers with devices that have Pocket Tunes in the ROM can now update to 4.0.3 and continue using Pocket Tunes after the trial expires. This enables Vista and Windows Media Player 11 compatibility. (#4048)" So the version will expire, but the functionality of WMP and Vista will continue.
Kinda like how some features of myKbd continue even after the trial period is over. So don't get too excited. When I upgraded to v4, I received a whole new reg # for the new version (but I got it for free because I had very recently purchased PT for ogg support)

I think the free version is 4.03 basic, not deluxe. But I'll be enjoying the deluxe features for 15 days anyway.

Wow! If you're correct then I'm bummed :( I only paid for the basic version in the first place because I needed the ogg codec. I still can't figure out how they could justify charging for it in the first place... Anyways if the basic version is free now, then I'm out $15 for nothing - I could skin the version that can with my TX.
Can you play ogg files?

I don't have anything in ogg, but if you give me a link I'll be glad to try :)

I got my hands on something in ogg and the verdict is, The free basic version won't play it :( So your $15 wasn't in vain.

BrentDC ~ Enjoy your 15 days. I don't think any of the cool stuff sticks after that. I skipped right to the 'End Trial Period' to see. I just recently purchased Kinoma so I did not need the radio feature anyway. I wanted to see if the album art would stick. The quick answer is no (I think). Oh, well. Hopefully it will have other benefits.

I think the album art sticks, cause I also sipped to the end and it remained. I just did a complete uninstall to get my trial back

Huh. Weird. I am not sure why, but I cannot see the album art in mine (4.03 after trial). I double checked with TPCMP to be sure I had album art and it displays correctly there. Oh well.
