Anybody know when datebk5 is getting an update? Its starting to look a bit outdated with its resolution and ugly UI. I think its a great program besides those problems and wonder when they will be fixed?

Preview 6 was just released (see files section of this site). As for the "ugly UI" you mentioned ... the interface works great for me. I would like to have hi-res icon support (inside the program, not just the app icon). However, the larger lines in the day view is intended as it allows "in-view" editing. This is something that is not possible in applications showing a smaller view with more lines (see agendus).

The functionality is enjoyed by many DateBk5 users, so it's likely that this will remain unless there is a way to implement "in-view" editing with a hi-res view.

If you were speaking of other views, please clarify as I've been using DateBk5 from the 3 days and enjoy the simple elegance of the UI.

Adding the Colorize app on mine spruced things up a bit.

JC2K - can you summarize the difference between 5.0b and the preview? I'm used to seeing change logs or release notes, but there don't seem to be any with this offering. Thanks. --PR

sure there are. It's located in the downloaded zip package. I'll be nice and paste some of it here but you should really just get it yourself and take a look because it's a hefty list!

ADDITIONS/CHANGES:
* If dbAlarm is installed, DateBk5 no longer sets a wakeup alarm after a timechange or other condition that would trigger the built-in datebook to reschedule alarms (which in turn required that dateBK5 run to squash them). This avoids unexpected "wakeups" with apps like ClockFix and some other special third party apps.
* if you do a jog dial/navigator push while the popup list is open (Month/4-month/year views), it will dismiss the list (as before) if the date line was selected. But if a specific item is selected, it now goes directly to that item in the day view.

* A quick double-push of the jog dial/Navigator dial now cycles through the views like the datebook button does (requested by several Tungsten users who have the clear cover in place - also NR/NX-70 users when screen is rotated around).
* A press of jog dial/Navigator in month view when no day is selected now goes to today's month (similar to how other views work).
* Now automatically removes any old copy of DateBk4 (rather than complaining about it). Also avoids problem with a LauncherX Shortcut when DateBk5 is stored on memory card.
* Adds edit menu support to registration dialog (so keyboard, copy/paste etc. work)

It fixed the "squished" weekly view where the font was unreadable.
I've been using Datebook since version 3 on my handspring. I happen to like it, a lot.
